    3. I'm afraid I can't be much help on this message, but I do remember being told that a group of Quakers from Guilford left in this period to go to Canada. It has never been entirely clear to me why. I know that some of them were the Hiatts of Guilford, but some stayed behind and gave up the Quaker faith. Perhaps they suffered persecution in Guilford.
