Pat, I know where my line of the Harrells ended up (1800 and after), they lived in the most beautiful place I've ever seen...along Big Rock Creek..in the shadow of Roan, Unaka and Iron Mountains in Burke-Yancey and Mitchell counties, N.C..Local names of places are: Red Hill, Harrell Hill, Harrell Township, Poplar, Upper Poplar, Will Harrell Mountain, Magnetic City (Buleahdean) and Fork Mountain..I know where they lived, I wish I could find where they came from..Sometimes I think they must have crawled from under a big rock!... There was a William Harrell etc. who owned land which lay on top of Blueridge Mountain..part in Grayson co. Va. part in Patrick Co. Va. or Surry Co. N.C...He went to Indiana about 1830..but there was another William Harrell who owned land adjoining his in Patrick or Surry Co...I don't know what happened to him...Surry Co. N.C. is just north of Guilford.. Jonathan Harrold (Harrell) was in the Guilford-Surry county area in 1752..He was a son of Richard Harrold on the Potomac River in northern Va-Md-Penn. area..I don't have his children, but he may have been father of one of the Williams'..There is also a record of one William Harrold (Harrell) in Augusta County, Va..who did not appear in court..and it was reported that he had gone to Carolina..this was 1750-60..I read the record but did not copy it at the time..I suspect that William was a son of Richard Harrold, Son of Richard Harrold and Mary Beals on the Potomac...Do not assume that all the Harrolds (Harrells etc.) in western N.C. came from eastern Va.-N.C...Many of them came from northern Va..Especially those who came there before 1770.. Sorry I couldn't be of more help...G. Lee Hearl Abingdon, Va...
