    1. [NCGUILFO-L] WOODARDS and STARRS of GUILFORD COUNTY, NC.
    2. Betty A. Pace
    3. ROBERT L. WOODARD (1867-after 1912) married MAGGIE (MARGARET?) LOUISE PACE (b.1873Rowan) in April 1890 in Salisbury, Rowan, NC. Maggie was the daughter of JOHN FLETCHER PACE (1844-1901) of Rowan and MARY LOUISE WOODSON PACE (b. abt.1853-55--d.1873Rowan), daughter of OBADIAH and MARIA ANNA FRALEY WOODSON of Rowan. ROBERT L. WOODARD was the son of J. H. WOODARD and E. A(?) WOODARD, residents of Wilson County in 1890 at the time of the marriage of their son to Maggie Pace. The Woodard name is often spelled Woodward, even Woodered, but Robert's marriage certificate says Woodard. ROBERT & MAGGIE WOODARD lived in Guilford County, Greensboro, where Robert was a machinery merchant. They had the following children: Jennie (b.1892); Marvin (b.1898); Charley (b.1901); and Minnie (b. 1902). One of their daughters, possibly Jennie, married a Mr. DURRELL, an actor, and she died in Philadelphia around 1910; she too was on the stage and had participated in stage activities in Guilford before her marriage. In the 1910 census, also living with this family was JULIA ANN REED PACE (b.1815-1911Guilford), Maggie's grandmother who had raised her after the childbirth death of Maggie's mother. Julia Ann Reed Pace is buried in the Greenhill Cemetery, along with Robert L. Woodard. Maggie Pace Woodard is not buried there and her date of death is unknown; perhaps she remarried after the death of Robert L. Woodard.. Maggie Woodard is related to me through her father, JOHN FLETCHER PACE, Police Chief of Salisbury, NC, at the time of his death in 1901. My line comes from his second wife: CLARA BELL WILSON PACE STARR (1857-1943Guilford), who had remarried a widower, REV. HENRY F. STARR (1856-1946Guilford) after the death of John Fletcher Pace in 1901. I believe that his first wife was ANNIE STARR The Clara Bell Wilson Pace and Rev. H. F. Starr are buried in the cemetery of Alamance Presbyterian Church in Guilford, Greensboro. I would love to share information with any researchers of these families in Guilford.
