    3. I am researching the LOMAX- MONIAC line and an unknown Creek ? woman who married a Lomax. ASAHEL LOMAX b15 FEB 1787 Guilford Co., NC died abt. 1853 Callaway Co. MO. His parents were WILLIAM PEMLOTT LOMAX and SARAH KNIGHT grandparents ABEL KNIGHT and RACHEL HARE. It is said he was half Indian which I don't believe is true. But his grandmother is RACHEL HARE and it is said she was Creek. He was supposed to have married an Indian woman named BETTY JANE around 1813 in Wilson County, TN. they had four daughters one being ELIZABETH H. LOMAX, and two sons WILLIAM and JESSE He then married LUCINDA VAN BIBBER, 15 OCT 1848 Callaway County, MO., they had no children. His cousin SYDNEY LOMAX, married MATILDA MONIAC daughter of DIXION MONIAC and ELIZABETH ELLIOTT, 4 June 1846 in Bay Minette, Baldwin Co., AL. One son, SYDNEY born 25 Mar 1859, Escambia Co., AL. According to the book Greenwood County Sketches by Margaret Watson, Matilda was a full blooded Creek woman, from the book William Lomax and his Descendants by J.B. Lomax. SYDNEY and MATILDA ran a stagecoach "Stand" on the Federal Road through the Creek Nation, Georgia and Alabama sometime between 1806 and 1836. I have the book The Federal Road, it doesn't mention them, but I have found reference to their stop being close to the CRUIT homestead. Any information would be greatly appreciated and I would be happy to share what I have. Judith Lomax Canavan
