    3. Thanks, Janie, I have checked the Confederate Veteran. My fellow is not mentioned, but there were many articles on his unit (57th NC Regiment). I just thought I would post that message because it would be a good project for someone to undertake since so many of the old Civil War newspapers have been destroyed. But they might still exist somewhere and could be memorialized by putting them on the web. I know that it was customary to print notices in these old newspapers of unit activity, and activity of the hometown boys during the Civil War. I would think it would be a gold mine for many researchers.
