You are right about the headache. I did notice a "Fecher or a Techer" b. 1832, and I wonder if that could be "Fletcher." My Julia Ann REED (b. around 1823-25 NC) married Abner PACE in Guilford Co., NC, in 1843. Their only child was JOHN FLETCHER PACE (1844-1901Rowan Co., NC). I speculate that the name John came from the Pace side but have been unable to determine the origin of the middle name FLETCHER, and have wondered if it came from his maternal side. There was some Reed/Reid tie to William Emory C. Reid/ married to Sue Bevings/Bevins in Rowan Co., NC around 1856 as Abner Pace was bondsman for this couple. The parents of W. E. C. Reid (groom) were said to be Nathan and Mary (Cottrell) Reid, married in Guilford Co., NC, in 1833. I have been unable to establish the exact tie to my Julia Ann Reed, nor to find her parents' names.
