    1. [NCGUILFO] DAVID PACE - 1820 IN CHATHAM CO., NC
    2. Betty A. Pace
    3. The Chatham Co., NC has an enormous amount of searchable files on-line, including either census transcriptions or indexes. I discovered a DAVID PACE in part 4 (page 234) there in Chatham in the 1820 census. He is in the 18-25 age bracket (so b. 1795-1802). His unnamed wife appears to be in the 16-18 age bracket. There is a male child (0-10 years) and a female child ()-10 years). WHO DOES THIS DAVID PACE BELONG TO? In that same census for Chatham Co., NC there is an ABRAHAM PACE (p.195-part 2) who is 45plus and a female 45 plus. There is also a MARY PACE (P.195-part 2) living separate but close to Abraham. There was a DAVID PACE AGE 40-49 (B.1780-1790) in the 1830 GUILFORD CO., NC census. He had one son age 5-9 (b.1820-1825) and 2 other sons ages 0-4 (b. 1820-1825) and 3 young daughters. THIS DAVID PACE IS GONE BY 1840, but several Pace orphans were apprenticed in Guilford around 1837-1840, the earliest being my ABNER PACE (b. abt.1821). With these orphaned Paces in Guilford is an ZILPHA/ZILTHA PACE, who in the 1850 Guilford Census NC was shown as being born in Chatham Co., NC in 1800. Although some researchers believe this Zilpha Pace was the wife of Alsay Pace, son of Stephen Pace and an Indian woman, I can't help coming back to the idea that Zilpha Pace had an "idiotic" son named DAVID PACE, and they went to Mecklenburg Co., NC, around 1855 with other Pace orphans NEEDHAM and YOUNG PACE. Does anyone have any clues? Betty Pace - Norfolk, VA ________________________________________________________________ YOU'RE PAYING TOO MUCH FOR THE INTERNET! Juno now offers FREE Internet Access!
