I read it as Jas [or Jos] with a raised "s" [which you can't do in e-mail to these lists] indicating it is an abbreviation [James or Joseph]. There is another Jas/Jos about 10 names down from that one, 3 on the next page [157a], another 3 on 157b...... Rick Saunders
I thought so to, but on pg. 155b Joseph is wrote out. And James is too.And James is wrote out on the same pg. 156b. But, I'm wondering if it is the same person that wrote out the whole censes. If not, then I would think it might be Joseph or James.
