In going through the Guilford Co., NC Digital On-Line Library of the newspaper, the Patriot, I found the following Reed entries which might be of use to someone. 3 Nov. 1829 - died - RACHEL REED in Perquimans Co., NC, wife of REV. WILLIAM REED. (I would appreciate hearing from anyone researching this family) 11 April 1835 - married - JOHN H. REED to ELIZABETH WILLIAMS in Mecklenburg Co., NC. 29 Nov 1841 - died - Mrs. Reed, wife of HENRY REED (presumed to happen in Guilford Co., NC) (I would appreciate hearing from anyone researching this family) 25 Jan. 1856 - died - of croup, ANSLEM LUTHER, son of A. & MARTHA P. REED at age 2 years, 11 mos., and 10 days in Hillsdale, Guilford Co., NC 23 March 1857 - died - MRS. MARTHA P. REED, wife of ANSLEM REED, ESQ. - age 36 years, 8 mos, 11 days. 17 March 1859 - married at Gov. Reid's in Rockingham Co., NC -- ABSELOM REED, ESQ. of Hillsdale NC and ANNIE C. REID, daughter of late REUBEN REID, ESQ. It appears to me that perhaps only socially prominent people were recorded in the newspaper columns here for births, marriages and deaths. I have not searched these newspaper files for the name REID or READ, but only for REED, the name of my JULIA ANN REED (b.abt. 1823) in Guilford Co., NC probably. I cannot find her parents' names, but in 1843 she married ABNER PACE in Guilford Co., NC.
