    1. [NCGUILFO] Missing People on the 1870 Census
    2. Tim Walls
    3. I have the exact same problem that Ruth does in finding some people on the 1870 Census. My Wiley WALL/WALLS is in Randolph County in 1830, Guilford in 1840, Randolph in 1850 and 1860, and disappeared. His son Brazilla was listed in Henry Co., IN in 1870, 1880 and 1920. But my great grandfather, William F. Walls, who came to Indiana with Wiley Walls, his grandfather, is nowhere to be found in 1870 at age 8 nor can we find his grandparents Wiley and Jereter. I located William at age 18 in 1880, Henry County, IN right where he should have been. Since his mother (Hannah Walls, unmarried) died in April 1870 in the area of northern Randolph County and was buried in Providence Friends Cemetery, I tend to think that Wiley and Jereter left shortly after and maybe were en route to Indiana. But....I didn't yet check the states in between NC and Indiana. And we do have Jereter's grave in Henry County, died 1876, so I know at least she made it safely to Indiana. And we do have a photograph of Wiley in which he looks about age 70, which would be about 1870. It is a tintype, about 1 1/2" wide by 2 1/2 inches high and his cheeks were very slightly colorized. The paper frame it came in had an oval circle to show the picture. I wonder if it was taken in NC or Indiana, and what year it was taken. (if anyone wants to see the photo I can email a copy) Regards, Tim > Subject: [NCGUILFO] New to List- help please > Date: Fri, 9 Jun 2000 23:06:23 EDT > From: RLugowski@aol.com > To: NCGUILFO-L@rootsweb.com > > Hi everyone, > > I'm new to the Guilford County list and am hoping someone can help me.
