He was born about 1780 in North Carolina and moved to Greene County, Tennessee about 1797. This is his family from Tennessee. The children of JAMES SHELLEY and HANNAH are: LOUIZA SHELLEY, b. 1820. CALVIN SHELLEY, b. May 20, 1820, Tennessee; d. January 22, 1892, McDonald Co Missouri. THOMAS E SHELLEY, b. September 18, 1829, Tennessee; d. January 03, 1902, Fayetteville, Washington Co. Arkansas. HILY SHELLEY, b. 1836. I believe that he may have been married in North Carolina before moving to Tennessee.
