I have seen several counties (and not only in NC) where the census taker listed the county of birth if born in that state (in this case NC), and then listed the state or country of birth if not a native of the state. These census takers were the exception. Can the information be trusted? It's just like any other census information, (names, ages, state of birth) it depends on the knowledge of the person that gave the information. Rick Saunders
