DNA testing has proven that I am related to these NICHOLS people from MD, and I believe that my branch were Nicholites who migrated to NC, and then on to Middle Tennessee, where my ggg-grandfather Benjamin NICHOL [b. 1769 in Dorchester Co., MD] appeared from "nowhere" circa 1796 and settled in Wilson Co. by 1810. There were other former Nicholite families in Wilson Co. by then, and Benjamin was a neighbor of Jacob SULLIVAN, who had lived in Guilford Co. and was also of the Maryland Nicholites. Who was Isaac NICHOLS, who bought this Guilford Co. land in 1796? The names Isaac, Benjamin, John and Joseph are strongly represented among MD NICHOLS folk, and I'm suspecting that this Isaac was s/o Benjamin NICOLLS of Dorchester Co. [he appeared on the 1783 county tax list], and quite possibly was father of my Benjamin.
