I think Aaron Frazier is the buyer, but I have my doubts. It looks like Aaron is buying the land from Robert Green, and Robert had bought it from The Fraizers. The reason I am doubting what it looks like, is there are numerous deeds about the same time that say North Carolina to an individual. This leads me to believe that the wording of the deeds are different than what we would say today. It does not make sense for North Carolina to be buying so many pieces of land. Can any one shed any light on this. Here is the deed abstract. thanks for any help anyone can give. I have a similar deed for my ancestor, Thomas Majors. As I understand it, when North Carolina opened up for settlement, some of the land was set aside for veterans of wars, and others were "granted" to Lord Granville (still under the Crown then, prior to the Revolutionary War). Lord Granville's emissaries then sold sections or acreage of land to anyone who could purchase it. Many times, those who originally purchased the land, then sold it to others, and the deed noted that the land had originally been "granted" to someone else. In the case below, it appears that Lord Granville's emissaries (or whomever represented him) sold a large land tract to Aaron Frazier. Aaron Frazier then later broke up the tract and sold a portion of the "larger tract" to Robert Green, being 301 acres. That's how I see it. Hope it helps. ----- Original Message ----- From: <gc-gateway@rootsweb.com> To: <NCGUILFO-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, December 09, 2007 5:15 PM Subject: [NCGUILFO] help interpreting deed abstract > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Author: ErnestGreen45 > Surnames: Green, Mitchell > Classification: queries > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.northcarolina.counties.guilford/4327/mb.ashx > > Message Board Post: > > I am going to enclose a deed abstract word for word, and see if any one can tell me for sure who is the seller and who is the buyer.
