Hinson of Guilford County, North Carolina? Sgt. Hinson was a World War II MIA who was lost in 1944 on the same Army Air Force aircraft as my uncle, 1st Lt. Irwin G. Zaetz. My information is that Sgt. Hinson's mother was Mrs. D. C. Hinson, 1910 Poplar Street, Greensboro, North Carolina. Within the past year, the wreckage of this aircraft was discovered in a remote part of northeastern India. My family is trying to find relatives of the missing crewmen to persuade the Department of Defense to send a recovery team to the site of the wreckage. Any information on Sgt. Hinson would be greatly appreciated. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I had e-mailed the Register of Deeds about the online records that used to be available, and which are not available right now. He tells me that some people in the law enforcement community were worried about potential identity theft, and so the information was pulled off until the Register of Deeds office can get a system set up where you have to register to view the records. He expects that system to be operational in a few weeks. In the meantime, he said they are going to start a restoration project on old marriage licenses (pre-1900) and old deeds. He expects that process to take 2-3 years to complete. He was very complimentary of the genealogy community, and I get the feeling that he is trying to make it easy for us to continue to have access to the records we want. I have no problem with not putting information online about living individuals, because that's my practice anyway. But it will be nice to have access to information from the early decades of the 1900's and prior to that. He promised to let me know when that registration system is operational, and I will send word out through this mailing list. Hi Mary, Do you have a copy of his *original* will (signed by him) or just a copy of the recorded version in the will books? If you have a copy of his *original* will, you can compare the signature with that on the three marriage bonds. Also, you can compare the signatures on the three marriage bonds to see if they were 1, 2 or 3 different individuals named Edward OWEN for those marriages, and whether any are the Edward of the will. Marriage records of Guilford Co., NC, indicate there were three marriages there for an Edward Owen as follows: June 9, 1794 -- Leah Whitley July 15, 1802 -- Sally Julin September 29, 1816 -- Nancy Brim If there is anyone on these lists who can tell me more about these individuals, I would very much appreciate hearing from you. I'm interested in knowing if it is the same Edward for all three marriages, knowing the names of the children of the marriages, and knowing where this Edward was living when he died. I'm descended from an Edward (Ned) Owen who died in 1838 in Knox County, KY and need to know more about his family. I have a copy of his will but there is some confusion among researchers as to the relationship to him of some of those who were named in the will. The surname in question is Bush. Any and all help will be appreciated, Mary Hart

Hi Searchers, Is there anyone with info on Frederick Smith in Guilford Co. N.C. He appears in the 1800,1810 and 1820 census records in Guilford. He is in the 26 to 45 bracket in 1800 and 1810,in 1820 he moves to 45 and up, so if I calculated right he was probably born abt. 1775..............Bob Smith

This newly created star is in the eastern sky and is filled with an unusually bright and warming light. For it is here that now resides the light reflecting the strong, sweet spirit of recently departed Brenda Susan Stigall Mabe. She lost a long and exhausting fight with cancer. Brenda overcame many physical challenges in her life and lived her life with a powerful passion and an admirable compassion for others. She loved all animals except spiders and died way too young at 58 years of age. One of Brenda's many talents was the ability to listen to others, the ability to REALLY listen emphatically. If you ever feel lonely, angry or just in the need to be heard, open your mind and gaze up into the eastern night sky and spill out your heart. Brenda's unusually pure spirit will happily focus on listening to you and, afterwards, rest assured that your burdens will seem lighter. There will be a memorial service for Brenda at the Oak Ridge Methodist Church located on route 150 West in Oak Ridge at 7p.m. on Friday, August 24, 2007. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the American Cancer Center. Cremation Services, Inc. is assisting the family.
