They were the children of Risdon and Mary Smyth MOORE who married in MD circa 1750. This family is outlined in the book, "A History of the Descendents of Shildes Moore in America from 1732 to 1891" by Geo. L. Moore. Thomas Moore's family started moving to Indiana circa 1825 following Thomas' death in Guilford Co. NC. They first stopped in Randolph Co. IN before settling in Hendricks Co. IN. Daughter Rebecca and the ODELLs did not relocate to IN until the mid-1830s. In the late 1840s Rebecca Moore ODELL's family and her brother's (Smyth MOORE) family moved on further west to Adams Co. IL, and they are buried there in Pleasant View Cemetery (located in Clayton Twp).

MOORE. She married John B. MORGAN from TN. They were married in Deep Rock, NC. They moved to Americus, Lyon County, Kansas by 1870, along with all the others, except of course, Huldah, who from my records I show stayed in Indiana when the family moved there for a short time. I show her as being married to Joseph E. BINFORD, and having the following children: Horace L., Elmer J., Mary E., Annie J., Benjamin S. and Arthur D. I followed her family up until 1920 in Henry County, Indiana. Is this correct? I have just received a giant box of old pictures from my grandmother, and have found that she has some pictures of Abigail, and also her sister Rebecca MOORE BROWN. There are many old photos of unknown individuals. Maybe some the Huldah line, it is hard to say since many do not have any markings/names. I do not have any more than stated above on Huldah's line, but have much more on all of the other children of Samuel and Mary BUNDY MOORE. My line: Abigail C. Author: ERandall9461 Surnames: MOOR, MOORE, BOWEN Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.northcarolina.counties.guilford/884.1.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: My great great grandfather was Teenan/Tinan/Tenan MOOR/MOORE who married Margaret BOWEN in 1797 in Guilford Co., NC. I recently found some deeds referencing a John Moore, Sr. and his lands in Guilford as they were inherited by his heirs. This information has not been transcribed yet, but one of the family member's names was Tenan/Tinan Moore. It is highly likely this is my gg grandfather. Teenan (etc) moved into TN and by 1799 my great granfather Thomas was born there somewhere. Teenan is on the 1806 tax list in Knox Co., TN and on the 1810 census in Rutherford Co., TN. It looks like he is migrating. By 1820 Teenan is in Claiborne Co., MS. The family as it appeared in Claiborne Co., MS in the very early years, consistently spelled their surname as "MOOR", enabling them to be defined from others of the same surname spelled "MOORE". Later the "MOOR" spelling became "MOORE" in this family as well. Lands in District West of Pearl in Claiborne Co., MS ca. 1800 lists the following Moore males: James and Robert. 1816 Territorial Census for Claiborne Co., MS lists: Joseph Moore, Robert Moore and William Moore. It is known that a Joseph Moore was one of Catholic Moores in the county and probably not related to Robert and William. There may have been another Joseph Moore however who was married to a Rebecca Ballew that might be of some significance. What appears to be an 1810 Census of Claiborne County shows the following: Jeffers Moore 1-0-0-0-1-0-0-1 Joseph Moore 1-1-1-0-3-0-6-9 Robert Moore 1-3-2-1-7-0-3-10 * * Robert would appear to be closely related to Teenan, probably a brother to him as Teenan is referenced in regard to Robert's will probate. 1820 Census for Claiborne Co., MS shows the following: Teenan Mare James Moore Jemima Moore (widow of Robert) John Moore Joseph Moore (Catholic Moore who is unrelated) William Moore About Alexander Moore in early Claiborne Co., MS: Alex. Moore made a will in 1788 and it was administered in 1793. Children were Samuel P., James, Robert, and Sarah. Alex. Moore received 1000 arpents on the Bayou Pierre 4 miles from its mouth and 1 mile from the Mississippi River. Who is this Alexander Moore? Is he in some way related to the family? He is probably the same as in the below information: Land Claims in Mississippi Territory, 1789-1834 Early Settlers of Mississippi as Taken from Land Claims in the Mississippi Territory Certificate Entered: 17 Sep 1805 Certificate: 598 Certificate Date: 16 Sep 1805 Recorded: Vol 3 Page 69 Claim Name: Robert Moore Orig Name: Alexander Moore Quantity: 1,000f. I am wondering if there is a connection to my own great-grandfather. He was Columbus Christopher Pitts, and his family lived in Guilford County (Guilford College) up until the 1880s, I believe. They migrated to an area that was, at that time, the Moravian town of Salem, where they were among the first families to establish an African/Native-American-Mulatto community (The Hill at Cross Creek Settlement, now "Happy Hill" in Winston-Salem). Columbus was a farmer. We have photos of him and, though I never knew him, he was apparently a tall, very proud, and distinguished-looking man, with VERY large hands (a feature that everyone who knew him always made mention of). His father's name was Major Pitts, but I'm unsure of his mother's name. Columbus married Annie, and their children were ! Walter, Ollie and Harry. A major thrust of the campaign is for the village to reconnect with the descendants of families for whom Rockford is an ancestral home. "The campaign offers these descendants a real opportunity to preserve for future generations of their families their heritage and their home," says Ms. Hannah Holyfield, President of the society. "We are going to work with genealogical groups and with ancestry sites on the Internet to reach out to descendants who may have only minimal knowledge about their ancestors' lives here but would like to know more. We plan to contact these descendants and ask them to help us restore the village and then, literally, to come back home." The culmination of the "Remember Rockford" campaign will be a Remember Rockford Families Reunion to be held in 2009. The reunion date will be set in the coming months. Anyone with family ties to Rockford is encouraged to go to rememberrockford.com and register to receive news updates of planned events for the coming months. I have an ancestor named John Moore, born ca. 1800, who was in Sevier County, TN by 1830. I am wondering if he could be connected to the family that you describe below. The 1850 census indicates that both he and his wife, Martha, were born in SC, but I am wondering if that could be inaccurate. John died before 1860, as best I can determine. I have not been successful in connecting him to any extended family. Thanks for any insight that you can provide. Ava Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. My gg grandfather, Teenan Moor/Moore was born in 1772 and in 1797 he married Margaret Bowen in Guilford Co., NC. 3. I likewise am interested in the Moore family of NC who may have been in E TN in early times. In 1827 my Margaret Byerley/Bierley married Wm. Watkins b 1805 TN, brother of Samuel Watkins who also married in 1826 Margaret's sister Lucy. The Byerley/Bierly sisters were daughters of Jasper/Casper Byerley, jR, of SC and wife Mary Moore b ca 1767 SC who during the 1820's lived on French Broad River near Concord, Louisville, Blount CO, TN. Wm and Margaret later settled in Loudon, TN, while brother Samuel and his wife Lucy lived by 1840's in old James CO near Ootewah/Chattanooga. Some of Lucy and Margaret's siblings either were born in NC or were married there. Note from my cousin who is one of the major genealogists of Loudon, TN: I think the idea that Jasper Byerley's wife was Mary Moore came from the files of Mr. Will Parham, a professional genealogist who worked in the Blount Co. area back in the 1930's. He did s"Early Ancestral Lines" on Joseph Moore says that "there are 3 Mary Moore's in this generation, first cousins: daughter of John Moore and Jane Walker who in 1786 m her cousin, John Walker; dau. of Capt. James Moore and and Martha Poage who m Rev. Samuel Brown and dau of Joseph and Eleanor." I have this line of Moores who lived in Augusta/Rockbridge CO, VA, after migration during mid 1700's.
