Peterson was indeed "my" Hildur's maiden name so it must be the correct person you found, Pat!! Can't thank you enough! I checked the Guilford Co., NC Online Vital Records and found nothing under the name of Hildur Holmberg, but I did find the following...the date is perfect for the person you're seeking. Perhaps her maiden name and married name were switched when the record was transcribed. Name: Hildur Holmberg Peterson Death Date: 8 December 1965 Parents: Unknown Book 136, p. 349 I hope this helps. Author: ElizHarris Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.northcarolina.counties.guilford/4348.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: The nearest major medical center to Guilford County is Bowman Gray medical school in Winston-Salem (Forsyth County). There are other medical schools at UNC in Chapel Hill and at Duke University in Durham, only about an hour's drive from Greensboro. These three would be the most likely hospitals for someone living in Greensboro and needing more specialized treatment than the local hospitals would provide. I happen to have the Forsyth Co. death index, and she's not listed there, nor could I find her on the statewide NC death index on Ancestry.com, so maybe she died somewhere else. (In my experience however searches on that particular index at Ancestry are sometimes faulty, so this doesn't completely rule out the possibility that she died in NC.) If I remember correctly, in 1965 the Greensboro Daily News and Greensboro Record were still separate papers (morning and afternoon respectively) but obits were often published in both. I'm sorry, I don't have access to the newspapers or city directories so can't do the lookup for you. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: mariaakerlind Surnames: Holmberg Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.northcarolina.counties.guilford/4348/mb.ashx Message Board Post: New information with regards to my post from 16 January: Apparently it's unlikely that my Grandfather's aunt Hildur Holmberg actually died in Guilford Co., but she probably still lived there at the time. (She may have been admitted to one of the bigger hospitals in the area and, therefore, died in a different county). At least there is no listing for Hildur in the Guilford Co. Register of Deeds' death certificate index. Still, the S.S. death index shows a connection to Guilford Co. so now I'm very eager to find out whether there's an obituary for Hildur in the "Greensboro News and Record" from December 1965. I'm also looking for any information that can help me determine her place of residence. Is she (or any other Holmbergs) listed in Greensboro City Directories any time between ca. 1940 and 1965? Any new information would be greatly appreciated! Maria - writing from Europe (Sweden) Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 1. [NCGUILFO] James CUNNINGHAM died 1791
    2. Fredric Z. Saunders
    3. Hi, I have recently received information from a person taken from a record written in 1910 by John Coots Love, grandson of Jeremiah CUNNINGHAM and wife Hannah COOTS. J. C. LOVE stated he had [his grandfather] Jeremiah's Bible in front of him, and from that we have the death dates (previously unknown) of Jeremiah's parents. James CUNNINGHAM died 21 Oct. 1791 and his wife Jane died 14 Oct. 1789. Also significant was that this confirmed that James's wife was named Jane. >From a naming pattern followed by James's daughter Isabel CUNNINGHAM and her husband Robert McCUISTON it was believed likely that James's wife was named Jane, and this record confirmed it. Abigail married my ggggg-grandfather Samuel Trogdon. They resided in Randolph County NC and are buried in the Allred-Trogdon Cemetery. While surfing the genealogical web, I came across a blog that included "Cemetery Photos(Mostly North Carolina Headstones from Counties of Almanance, Guilford, Chatham, Montgomery, and Randolph)". The blogmaster is Crystal Dawn Eaton Cooper and can be accessed by googling "cooped girl cemeteries A-Z". There are photos of 50 Julian headstones as well as tombstone photos of allied families. Thought perhaps one or more of them is connected to and might be helpful to a researcher at this Julian Family Forum. Hope someone finds a branch from their family tree. Betty Pace
