Hi - In the Pleasant Garden area of Guilford County, I am wondering if someone has burial information for William D. HARDIN and his wife Mary Jane. (I believe she was a Fields, but not absolutely sure). They are listed on the censuses in this area of Guilford County. My source says William D. died 1910 but again not sure on this because William was listed in the 1910 census along with his wife Mary J. Tim

Hi everyone, I'm tring to find the parents of Lethe(Lethy) Brown born possibly in Guilford Co. N.C. 1805-10. Lethy was married in Guilford Co. N.C. 6-5-1827 to James C. Smith, her bondsman was John Brown ( maybe her father or an uncle or brother?). Going strictly by the Guilford Co. census records from 1810 and 1820 I could not find a John Brown, her probable Father would be James Brown or William Brown. Her first child was a male which they named William, which in both census records there are more than one of each, James and William. Does anyone know of any William Brown that is in the 1810 and 1820 Guilford C. N.C. census records that would have a female named Lethe, Lethy, or Aleatha?.......Bob Smith

My John is the son of Stanley Frazier & Dorcas Hodson. John had brothers Zimri and Joshua Frazier. John, Zimri & Joshua are found living in Decatur Co., Iowa in 1856 (state census) & also 1860 (fed. census). In 1870 they are livng in Vigo Co., Indiana. I have that Stanley is descended from George Thomas Frazier & Mary Pugh. Sound familiar? Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Lilly, I am not the one that posted but I have some info on Mary Polly Hendrix and Isaac Armfield. Are you researching the Hendrix or Armfield line? Hendrix is my main line of research but I am working on the Armfield line and trying to put it together. Polly Hendrix was the sister of my gg grandfather, Rhoddy Hendrix. I should have said: "the move has had to be done in haste, although the matter has been on my mind for weeks now." It was just a few days ago that we found out about the latest changes, and I spent several hours on Wednesday making sure I had everything on the Guilford website copied to my hard drive. I need to let you know that the new URL was changed today. The person hired to set up the new accounts is involved in moving sites for other counties in other states of USGenWeb as well, and so things have been hectic and confusing at times. He set some things up differently than anticipated, and so the new URL changed in the process. The new Guilford County NCGenWeb address is now: _http://www.ncgenweb.us/guilford/_ (http://www.ncgenweb.us/guilford/) You will notice that "www" is part of this web address, whereas the previous new address did not have "www" in the address. I'm sorry for the confusion. This has been a massive undertaking to do on such short notice. I am still waiting for my password to be sent by the state coordinator, so I can update the search engine and some other things. Hopefully, the worst of this process will be over soon, but it will probably take me another week or so to get things fully operational on the new website. If you have interests in other counties elsewhere in the USGenWeb system, you may want to be aware that some of those bookmarks will need to be updated in the near future. Not all counties are moving off Rootsweb, but apparently a number are. It may take a while to get all links on state pages updated, with all the frantic activity going on. Contacting the state coordinators for the relevant state should help you out if you can't find a particular county. I know that West Virginia moved their state project yesterday, and another state is slated to move tomorrow. It may be that eventually all NCGenWeb counties will be on the same server. Discussions are ongoing at this time as to the best approach to take before moving forward. Katherine Benbow County Coordinator, Guilford County NCGenWeb **************It's Tax Time! Even though this says "next week," the changes have already started. I don't know what further changes are in store, down the road. I'm afraid to find out, frankly. This just appeared on another mailing list, so the cat is out of the bag now. Katherine Benbow ============== _http://bigfile.rootsweb.com/newsroom/_ (http://bigfile.rootsweb.com/newsroom/) RootsWeb Announcement March 13th, 2008 As you know, The Generations Network has hosted and funded the RootsWeb online community since June 2000, thereby maintaining RootsWeb as the world’s oldest and largest free genealogy website. TGN remains committed to this mission and believes that RootsWeb is an absolutely invaluable and complementary resource to Ancestry.com, our flagship commercial family history site. We believe in both services and want to see both communities prosper and grow. As part of this goal, we have decided to “transplant” RootsWeb onto the Ancestry.com domain beginning next week. This move will not change the RootsWeb experience or alter the ease of navigation to or within RootsWeb. RootsWeb will remain a free online experience. What will be different is that the Web address for all RootsWeb pages will change from www.rootsweb.com to www.rootsweb.ancestry.com. Again, the RootsWeb experience is not changing. The decision to host RootsWeb on Ancestry.com is being made for one primary reason: we believe that the users of each of our two main websites can be better served if they have access to the best services available on both. Simply stated, we want to introduce more Ancestry.com users to RootsWeb and vice versa. Today, despite the fact that Ancestry.com and RootsWeb.com are the two most frequently visited family history sites on the Web, only 25 percent of visitors to Ancestry.com visited RootsWeb in January 2008, while only 20 percent of visitors to RootsWeb visited Ancestry.com (according to Comscore Media Metrix). We think we will serve our users best by doing a better job of letting themknow what is available on both Ancestry.com and RootsWeb. Hosting RootsWeb on Ancestry.com is the first step towards making this happen, but we will absolutely look for more and better ways down the road to advance this goal. Hosting RootsWeb on Ancestry.com will also make it easier for us to make changes and improvements to the RootsWeb experience in the future. All old RootsWeb URLs will continue to work, whether they are bookmarks or favorites, links to or from a hosted page or URLs manually typed in your Internet browser. We will have a redirect in place so that all old URLs will automatically end up on the appropriate new RootsWeb URL. You will never need to update your old favorites or links unless you want to. We have worked to make the transition as seamless as possible for our users, and this change should have a minimal impact on your experience with the site. RootsWeb will remain a free online experience dedicated to providing you with a place where our community can find their roots together. If you have questions regarding this change please email them to feedback@rootsweb.com. Thanks, Tim Sullivan CEO The Generations Network, Inc. **************It's Tax Time! Thank you, Mona. This has not been an easy decision, or one made in haste. I've been thinking about it for some weeks, after finding out about some changes that Ancestry is planning to make. And I am not alone in my concerns. One would need a crystal ball to know what will happen eventually. Time will tell. In the meantime, the information is still available, no matter does happen; and that was my main goal. Katherine **************It's Tax Time! Get tips, forms, and advice on AOL Money & Finance.
