    1. [NCGUILFO-L] Causeys
    2. Nick R Bryant
    3. Hello, I undestand that there were Causeys that migrated from the Greenville/Guilford area of NC to Horry County, SC. Does anyone know of a Daniel Causey? He would have to have been born in the 1850's or 1860's. He was married to an Arments Lee (don't know if that was her maiden name or middle name). They had at least two kids that I know of, John Pinkney Causey (born in Horry, about 1882) and Mabelle Causey. Do these people ring a bell for anyone? I've had no luck finding Daniel and Arments searching in Horry. Thanks. 1. [NCGUILFO-L] Where to get maps
    2. Nona Williams
    3. Someone asked that I post information about the maps to this list. Here it is: These maps were developed by Fred Hughes, who has died some time ago. The Guilford County Genealogical Society has the Guilford County map along with a book on the county full of info he collected when putting the map together. Check out the Society's web site: www.greensboro.com/gcgs. Mary Browning has available, for sale, the other county maps. Mr. Hughes did not put a book out on those. _______________________________________________________ I just recently ordered a map of Randolph County. Mr. Hughes has died. Send correspondence to Shirley Hughes, 167-A Old Mill Rd., High Point, NC 27265-1286. The maps are $10.00 PPD. The maps that are available are Davie, Guilford, Montgomery, Randolph, Rockingham, Stokes, Surry, and Yadkin counties. __________________________________________________________ Email: nona@rof.com Web: http://www.rof.com/gene R.O.F.E. Which brings up an important question -- is there one source for all cemetary records in Guilford County? My ancestor, William LEWIS, died in Guilford County, but I don't know where he is buried and don't begin to know all of the cemetaries in which to look. If there was one large record of all burials in Guilford it would certainly help. Thanks for any info -- Alicia Fox

    1. [NCGUILFO-L] Isaac Wright
    2. J. Douglas Park
    3. Isaac Wright, b. ca 1750, d. 1816, married Rebekah Thompson, b. 1752, d. 1840. Rebekah was the daughter of Robert Thom(p)son the Regulator who was killed in cold blood by Lord Tryon at Alamance and granddaughter of Rev. John Thomson, the English (but Scottish educated) Presbyterian evangelist, who came to MD and DE ca 1715 and who is buried in Mecklenburg Co., NC. Isaac and Rebekah were reportedly located near Guilford Courthouse, NC during Rev War. Later, after the war, Isaac apparently purchased a TN bounty land warrant from a David Passmore, a soldier in the Rev War. Isaac and Rebekah moved to TN and settled on this land. They are buried 10 miles east of present day Murfreesboro. Female descendants in the 1930's would later lay claim to rights in the DAR on the basis of Isaac's possession of this bounty land warrant. These claims are included in the DAR Patriot Index but appear bogus to the writer. Does anyone possess any proofs of THIS Isaac Wright's service in the Rev War (yes, there were at least 3 contemporaries in the all the colonies with that name) which corroborate he and Rebekah living in or around Guilford Courthouse and rendering service during the Rev War? 2. Charlotte !
    3. DAR requires documentation of Revolutionary service and lineage, all sent to DAR in Washington DC however, they will not supply you with copies of the proof...they will however, give you the application of a member coming in under that Rev Ancestor if you know which one of his children etc... DAR will also check into any documentation or lineage that doesn't appear correct...not sure what the process is...but they of course want their records to be as accurate as possible...they also have a web site at dar.org I believe... might be nsdar.org As a member of DAR I know the documentation I had to send was at least 2 inches thick...and the complaint by most members is that it takes them too long to review the papers .... <g>... There are also a great many Revolutionary Patriots that are not in the DAR indexes...although a large collection if an Ancestors family did not join DAR they do not have a record of the service... His name was Nereus Harper Leonard. ********************* Carol, North Carolina didn't require birth certificates until 1913. 1) Death certificates were begun about the same time, so if he died after that time his birth and death dates should be on that. You would need to check with the county for this information) 2) If he died in Greensboro, he might also be listed in the cemetery records for Guilford Co., NC. 3)Sometimes, a bride and groom's ages were listed on their marriage bonds. 4)Also, if Nereus was born in 1852, you could check the 1860 census records for the Leonard families in Guilford Co. All of the members of a household were listed as well as their ages. This isn't foolproof however, because the ages given on a census record are frequently off somewhat.
