    2. Ninah
    3. Andrew Russell in one of his deeds purchased land on Ruddocks Creek. I can't find any creek that has that name today. Does anyone know what was being referred to? Most of his land was on South Buffalo Creek which is quite long and I would like to narrow the area down some. Other land owners mentioned in deeds were John McAdow, Wm Armfield, Solomon Armfield, James Millis, Elisha Stack, and Davis's line. These are over a period of 1793-1808. Can anyone help me to get an idea of this location? Also interested in whether anyone is using the program Deed Mapper to plot the early landowner? 3. The following was posted by Pat Dorward <patandjohn@mindspring.com> on Sun, 26 Dec 1999 on the Guilford County GenConnect Query Forum: - -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Surname: Leonard, Starbuck I am looking for information on the Thomas Leonard/Hannah Starbuck families who were born and lived in New Garden, Guilford County, NC in the early 1800's. They moved to Ohio at some point and were married in 1820 in Clinton, OH. The Leonard family then moved to Tazewell County, IL in the 1830's or so. We are descended from Thomas/Hannah through their son Allen (married Louisa Fisher); then through their son Raphael (married Mary Louise Matthews); then through their son Howard (married Clara Etta McGuire); then through their daughter Helen Emma. I want to find information on who the ancestors of Thomas and Hannah are; where the families came from, why they came to NC (where they lived before arriving in NC) and then moved to OH and subsequently to IL. Any information anyone has would be most appreciated. Thank you, Pat Dorward - --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Any replies should be sent to the Guilford County GenConnect Query Forum [<http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/NC/Guilford>] unless it is personal or involves live people addresses etc. when it should be sent to Pat Dorward <patandjohn@mindspring.com>. --

He was born 1769 in Guilford, Guilford Co. NC & died 1840 in Marengo, Marengo Co. AL. His father was JOHN ROSS. I believe (but can't confirm) his mother may have been a Miss SARAH JACKSON. Also, believe (but can't confirm) his siblings might have been Rebeckah Ross, John Ross Jr., Nancy Ross, Agness Ross, Margaret Ross, James Ross & Andrew Jackson Ross (all born btwn 1772 & 1784). Can anyone confirm this for me? THOMAS' wife, SUSANNA RUSSELL (also of NC), was born 1782 to WILLIAM RUSSELL & MARGARET MILEHAM. I believe (but can't confirm) her paternal grandparents may have been WILLIAM RUSSELL SR. & ELEANOR CROSS. If so, this would make her uncle a CAPTAIN JOHN (JACK) RUSSELL, who saw service in the Revolutionary War. Can anyone offer any information which might confirm or support these relationships? Can anyone tell me about the MILEHAM side of her family? This is the extent of what I know (pre-1800). Would appreciate any additional information on these individuals. 3. Pamela: From just glancing through your posting, most of your assumptions appear to be right. The Sarah Jackson that married John Ross in New Jersey is not however this lineage of the North Carolina John Ross. That John and Sarah never left New Jersey. From John's probate information in Guilford Co, it is believed his wife's name was Mary. No marriage record has been located as of yet. It is believed that it could have been Jackson however. I too descend from this line, through son Andrew Jackson Ross, Sr. I'm home for lunch, but will send you the email addresses of several others researching this line - Cleo Wilcox, Martha Thayer, Sue Albertson.
