Hi List, I want to apologize to the list for this post being so long and to thank all the excellent, kind researchers on the list who have taken the time to try and help me with my research. I am posting my info. again, hoping someone new has joined the list and we share the same research. I am researching the family of John MCFARLAND b. 1800 in Guilford Co., NC. My John married a Sarah D. ???????, b. 1806, in Guilford Co., NC (the birthdates are apprroximate, taken from the ages on the 1850 census). John and Sarah are shown as having 10 children ( 5 boys & 5 girls) on the 1860 census and still living in Guilford Co., NC. The census shows among the 10 children, there are 3 sets of twins. Between the 1860 & 1880 census, they have totally disappeared. I find one son (twin) on the 1880 census index for Hendricks Co., IN, - no other family members shown. Where could the other family members have disappeared to??? The boys would have been the right age to serve in the Civil War - but haven't found any record of them serving, Confederate or Union. Since I'm totally at a dead end, with the descendents, I'm trying a different approach with finding the parents & siblings of John MCFARLAND. Guilford Co., NC was formed from Orange & Rowan Co's in 1771 Caswell Co., NC was formed from Orange Co., in 1777. On the census index for Colonial America I find: Daniel MCFARLAND in 1777, Caswell Co., NC (St. Lawrence Dist) John MCFARLAND in 1777, Caswell Co., NC (St. Lawrence Dist) Robert MCFARLANDin 1777, Caswell Co., NC (Nash Dist) No MCFARLAND's listed in Guilford Co., NC on the census index, Colonial America I can't find any MCFARLAND marriages in Guilford Co., NC but have the following of which any could possibly be the parents of my John. John named one of his sons Dan L. & a daughter Mary E. Marriages in Caswell Co., NC: Jno. MCFARLAND m. Dicey LEA on Jul. 15, 1779 Daniel MCFARLAND m. Mary BAZWELL on Sept. 10, 1789 (best match for parents, due to above names of children)???? James H. MCFARLAND m. Cisley WOMACK on Jan. 22, 1787 Thomas MCFARLAND m. Rachel WINTERS on Mar. 15, 1797 Marriage in Orange Co., NC: John MCFARLAND m. Elizabeth MADDISON on Aug. 31, 1798 I have posted on the MCFARLAND list, and it seems like I'm the only person researching this line. I am trying to prove if Andrew Morgan found in 1850 census Guilford Co. with Milly Morgan listed as wife and the Andrew Morgan who married Nancy Harris, Guilford Co. in 185? are the same individual. I find this Andrew Morgans will indicating the wife, Nancy and son David written in 188? Guilford County. I find an Andrew Morgan marrying Milo Smith in Guilford Co, in 1839 and I find a Allison Smith living with Milly and Andrew in 1850 therefore I conclude that these two Andrews may be the same individual. Now I am trying to figure out if the Andrew who married Nancy Harris is the same. Dates and names fit if Andrew married Milo (Milly) Smith and Allison lived with them in 1850. Then, something happened with this marriage after 1850. Then, Andrew marrying again to Nancy and raising another family including David. I am actually trying to find the parents of Rufus MacDonald Morgan who was living with Andrew in 1850. If I can find any information concerning the parents of Andrew I may be able to determine the grandparents of Rufus and continue my search for his parents. This Andrew is believed to be his uncle.

Gourley were b. in Aug. 1846 (most likely in Guilford Co NC). Their parents were Thomas & Nancy Simons GOURLEY. They married 29 May 1840 in Guilford Co. NC, but on marriage record last name is spelled Goley. 1870 Census has the last name spelled Gouley with a Susan Simons residing with the family. Any information in these families would be greatly appreciated. Robert Henry Gourley married Phoebe Lodemia COOK.

I am looking for any information on the ancestors or descendants of William WIDDOP. William appears on the 1790 US census in Guilford county. His will, dated Jan 21, 1819, names his children as Thomas Widdop, William Widdop, Charles Widdop, Betsy Conner, Peggy Widdop, and Polley Widdop. It also lists his wife as Winney Widdop. My records indicate that John Monroe Andrew and Elizabeth Pritchett Phipps married 5 March 1867. Elizabeth was first married to Emsi Monroe Phipps, who was killed in the Civil War. Elizabeth was born 14 September 1840 to the family of John Allen & Mary [Lowe ] Pritchett. In my notes from the bible record - it states that Elizabeth's birthday was February 14, 1840 - but on the tombstone it is listed as September. Hope this helps. Jean May Greensboro, NC

Sarah married John Henry "Jim" Bailey, b 1785 in Gainsville. They married in 1824. I also have a Phillip Drollinger, b1762 in Pennsneck, NJ, married to Hanna Kidd. Their grandson was my GGG uncle. Does any of this match up? I have more detail if you want it.
