Friends, I am open to suggestions on how, and where to find a birth record of the subject individual. 1.What kind of records would I find in Guilford that might document my ggggf birth and who his parents were, and his siblings? 2.Who would I contact? All I have is speculative info from an elderly aunt that did research in the 1950's and had narrowed down Guilford Co. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. TIA tootie@netnitco.net
Isaac ANDERSON, 1810 Guilford Co census, pg. 168. Does anyone have any information on him? Was he the Isaac who died in 1845 in Guilford (son Sylvester Anderson of Vigo Co, IN at that time)? Or, was he the Isaac ANDERSON who is found living in Vigo Co, IN 1850 census (b: 1769, DE)? Thanks. Marsha McWilliams
Margaret COOK's noncup. will, 1816, in Guilford Co. Does anyone have any information on her ... husband, children, etc? Was she connected to George or John COOK who was on the 1810 Guilford Co census (pg. 166?) Thanks. Marsha McWilliams
Is there any connection between this SULLIVAN line and that of Thomas SULLIVAN who sold land to Samuel WALL in 1805, in northern Randolph County, NC? This Thomas SULLIVAN was listed on the 1803 Tax List in Randolph County, NC as well as my 4x g-grandfather Samuel WALL.. Email me offline if there's any connection. I recently found that my great-grandmother, Fannie Adeline Macklin was the daughter of Matthew Macklin and Sally Guilford Macklin (b.c1794-1806). I believe they lived in Wake, Rockingham and Stokes Cos. sometime during the late 1700s and early 1800s. However, since Sally's last name was Guilford, I am thinking that she may have had roots in Guilford Co., therefore, I am writing to ask if there is any information on a Guilford family that might lead me to more information about Sally. Thank you. Cornelia
l am hoping to make contact with anyone researching the DOWNEY family in Guilford Co, where Peter DOWNEY apparently lived until about 1783, when he and his family moved to Surry Co. NC. l would be most happy to exchange info with others working on DOWNEY or the COOK family, who l think may also have been living near the DOWNEYs in Guilford Co. Thank you, Graham Louer
Christina, I believe this may well be your Daniel SULLIVAN. This is taken from my Nicolite records. Marsha McWilliams The Nicolites were a religious sect much like the Quakers only much stricter from the Caroline Co., MD/Kent Co., DE area. Joseph Nicols, Founder, died in December, 1770. The Nicolites continued on until ca. 1800 on the Eastern Shore and by about that time most became Quakers...many families had also migrated to Guilford Co, NC, Jamestown at Deep River area. I believe they were probably the more "die-hard" Nicolites. Shortly after 1800 it appears that many were deceased, and others joined other churches (including Quaker.) Mary Sullivan m. Joshua Cranor 1816 and Sarah Silliban m. Jonathan Murphey 1820 (I am looking at the NC marriage bonds on Ancestry). Does anyone know their ancestry? Thanks, Christina
Does anyone know the origin of Daniel Sullivan who died and left a will in 1808? Thanks, Christina
These surnames which are connected by marriage - Clark, Shaw, Kelly, and McIver. I've read that there was a Buffalo Pres. Church in Guilford Co, and I would like to know if this is the same one, and if anyone can give me more information on these families. Thanks! ~ Mary (Clark) Young Here is a piece of information I received today from a Kelly researcher. Obituary in the April 5, 1858 issue of the Fayetteville Observer. "In Calloway County, KY, January 12, 1858, Mrs. Mary Kelly in the 49th year of her age, wife of Miles Kelly, and daughter of the late Alexander Clark of Moore County, NC. Alexander Clark was a founding Elder of Buffalo Presbyterian Church, the congregation meeting in Alexander's barn starting about 1791, in Moore County (now Lee County), NC. Alexander died before 1830, leaving his widow, Margaret his "mansion" and 239 acres of land surrounding it. He left his children, Malcolm (administrator), Mary Clark, Flory Clark Shaw (wife of Alexander Shaw), and Catherine Clark McIver (wife of Daniel Roderick McIver) the remainder of his landed estate, 718 acres of land situated on Buffalo Creek, the Big Creek fork of Crooked Creek.

NC Query Forum Board URL: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/NC/Guilford?read=1467 Surname: Thompson, Mullins ------------------------- I have recently started looking for information on a family of Guilford NC Thompsons that has the name Robert passed down through it. I'm hoping we can connect somewhere. ROBERT H. THOMPSON, b 1804 in Guilford Co., NC to WILLIAM THOMPSON and SARAH MULLINS. William had a brother ROBERT, B 1762. Robert H. Thompson married Martha (Jones?) and lived in Bedford Tenn. Children includ ALVA 1841, D. 1845, R. 1849, Samuel 1829, Henry 1831, Mary 1833, Evaline 1837, Benjamin 1844, and Robert H. 1856. Alva moved on to Texas in late 1850-early 1860's and is my husband's ancestor. This Thompson family may have had a close relationship to the Woody and/or Mann families of Orange Co. NC.

I am trying to locate ancestors of Elizabeth M SWEENEY. According to the 1910 TX census, she was born about 1857 in NC. She married William H LEONARD 8/20/1876. According to the 1860 NC census index, there were only two Sweeney households in NC at the time (Elizabeth would have been 3). One of the households was Henry SWEENEY in Guilford county (page 52). Does anyone have the actual census record to see if this is the family of Elizabeth? Thanks for your help. Barry Fox Greenville, SC
