I also see by my book---Dwiggins Cemetery: This cemetery was described as being on Harrell Road near Union Nondenominational Church Cemetery, Oak Ridge community. The Peagram/Peyatt/Endsley Cemetery is near. How I wish I had more info. on these names and how are they connected. 3. Posted on: Guilford Co. NC Query Forum Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/USA/NC/Guilford/1501 Surname: Nelson, Brookbank ------------------------- This gets confusing! According to my records Miranda Jane Nelson was born in Guilford County, NC, in 1859 to parents Joseph Nelson and Hariett (nee Brookbank). Could Joseph Nelson and Hariett Brookbank be brother and sister to John Nelson and Rachel Brookbank? Miranda Jane was one of four children and attended Oak Ridge Public School while living on her father's farm. She married Robert Dwiggins, charter member of the Pine Grove Methodist Church, in 1877 and bore him ten children. The Dwiggins Family still has a big reunion every September in NC. My mother is still in touch with her cousins and is going to search for more info.

    3. Posted on: Guilford Co. NC Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/NC/Guilford/1500 Surname: dwiggins ------------------------- Guilford County: There is some confusion on my part as to how many John Dwiggins there were around the late 1700's in North Carolina. I know there was a John that was a son of a Robert Dwiggins born around 1780. He is listed in the will of Robert in around 1789. Also John was listed as a witness. But, a John was listed as head of household in the 1790 census. I am trying to determine which John I am descended from. He is buried in Frankton, Ind. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks for the response. Paul Dwiggins.

Or could it be that the will was >written in 1767, but the person didn't die until closer to 1775. >>>>>>>> I wrote my will over 20 years ago and it hasn't been probated yet!!!! While some people wait until their death bed to write a will - and that's certainly better than no will - others plan ahead. Even in earlier days, more thoughtful people wrote their wills before "the last moment." Look at the opening lines of the will; do they tell you anything about the persons state of health? Another possibility, they were very sick, but recovered and lived several years. Usually the will was probated at the next term of court after the person's death. That is, the executor was confirmed and went to work. It does not mean that all the terms of the will were carried out immediately, though the executor does have to report back to the court. The actual land transfer, on paper, in the case of my immigrant ancestor did not take place until 27 years after his death. Other parts of the will were consummated immediately and the heirs started using their part of the lands. However, the executor did not complete the paper work until the heirs wanted to sell the land. In the case of my more immediate ancestor, the son died and the deed was not completed until the children (actually grandchildren) were of age and wanted to split up the land. In this case the executor made out the deed to the purchaser and divided the proceeds among the grandchildren who were not born at the time of the original will.
