    2. YVONNE WYRICK
    3. Last night my husband and I were cleaning out my father-in-laws house (he is in a long-term hospital situation) and I came across an old scrapbook about people who lived in Guilford. His sister must have saved clipping of people he knew. Please contact me if you need the obituary. Many are buried at Frieden's church. My father-in-law must have known most of these people mostly from Gibsonville. I am interested in finding out about the Shepherd's and Wyrick especially. I also have engagements and wedding announcements. Allen, Carl M. 3. Posted on: Guilford Co. NC Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/NC/Guilford/1569 Surname: SMOTHERS ------------------------- Am researching all lines of the Smothers family in Guilford. Most moved to Indiana in the mid-1800s, but one line remained: Charles Smothers, b. 1780s (probably in Rockingham Co.), counted in Roockingham in 1820 but in Guilford in 1830. His widow, Sinah Smothers, was listed in Guilford in the 1850-60-70 censuses. Known children were Matilda (b. c1827); Robert (b. c1828, m. 1) 1855 in Forsyth to Julia Cook, 2) 1858 in Guilford to Sarah Gunner, 3) 1878 in Guilford to Anna McCoy, 4) 1885 in Guilford to Catherine Hall); Elizabeth/Bettie (b. 1831, m. 1863 in Guilford to John Mitchell); Alfred (b. c1836, m. 1880 in Guilford to Sarah Pritchett); George (b. c1839); and Pinckney (b. c1840). George and Pinckney were both Civil War soldiers but appear to have left Guilford after the war. I can't seem to locate any of these folks in the 1880 census, although they were certainly still in Guilford then. What became of Charles's children and grandchildren? Any help greatly appreciated.

    3. Posted on: Guilford Co. NC Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/NC/Guilford/1568 Surname: DYSON, DISON ------------------------- Seeking information on and/or descendants of Frederick Dyson (b. c1766 VA, d. c1858 in Caswell Co., NC). Son Thomas Dyson (b. c1803, d. 1873) was listed in Guilford in the 1860-70 censuses, in Oak Ridge Twp.; he m. 1) 1840 in Caswell Co. to Charlotte "Lotty" Hood and 2) 1858 in Guilford to Nancy Penn. [Thomas was apparently a bigamist; his wife Lotty was still alive in Rockingham Co. when he married Nancy Penn. Lotty later moved to Jamestown in Guilford Co. and eventually received the residue of Thomas's small estate after his death.] Thomas's known children were Edward (b. c1845, m. 1) 1868 in Guilford to Frances Dungy, 2) 1875 in Guilford to Caroline Low); William (b. c1847); and John (b. c1849, m. 1877 in Guilford to Catherine/Kate Clouse). Thomas Dyson's nephew John Dyson also moved (with him?) to Guilford. John Dyson was b. 1825 in Caswell, m. 1849 in Guilford to Lucinda Marshall, but by 1860 had resettled in Surry Co., near Mt. Airy, where he died in 1917.
