Greetings, The following message has been posted on Old Dobbers by Rootsweb. Hopefully they will get it cleared up soon The RootsWeb Freepages server is currently experiencing technical difficulties. Please visit RootsWeb's main page for other sites that are available. Thanks! RootsWeb Staff When you can get on Old Dobbers again, I have updated the Family History site with Al Barrs BARRS FAMILY HISTORY, and added new links to the Military site. Look under updates. Keep posted for more updates. FYI, I spent the past year just keeping my head above water, so it seems. Our oldest ADHD/ODD son needed to be placed in a private residential setting because my patience and ability to handle him were long gone. He is doing well now, thanks to this pro-active approach. His lowest grade was a C and he lettered in Tennis. But he still needs 6 months or more to get a grip on his impulsive tendencies. And yes, I say oldest ADHD/ODD son because the Lord blessed us with two. (Throw in the ADD mom and it is amazing we are doing as well as we are:-) We refinance the home and I substituted to help out. I was also able to pick up a couple computer toys to help enhance the web site. (CDRW, Microsoft Office, and a digital camera) I have decided not to substitute this year. I finally figured out it makes little sense to surround myself with 5th, 6th, and 7th graders who act just like my 17 year old. I am going to concentrate on what I love: my family, Old Dobbers, and genealogy. Here is the problem. I have an iMac and most of you don't. That means our genealogy software programs are not compatible. We can only exchange information in text or gedcom. Many of you are not familiar with how to make a gedcom. I really need a PC with Family Tree Maker software, but that is not going to happen given my new frugal ways and desire to stay sane. Is it possible that someone out there has an older version of FTM that is Mac compatable they would be willing to sell me cheaply. (That is if you are not using it on your machine, I do not want to break the law) I have PAF (which is PC compatible), Reunion (Mac only), and a garage sale copy of Ultimate Family Tree (which is supposed to be PC and Mac.) I am having a little trouble with UFT and my iMac though. I am trying to figure out the best way to read and post your information. Most of what you send in text, doc.or excel has to be reformatted by hand, and depending on the size of the document, can take a while. Although I must thank you, because I am having to learn how to use my Office program as I strive to find more efficient. ways to get your information internet ready. If you can help me out or have any ideas, please email me privately. Also, before sending attachments, let me know they are coming. The worm is still out there and I delete things I do not expect. I received, but did not open, another infected attachment today. Thanks for your support and all the great genealogy work you do.
