Frances, You ran the below back in Feb and I just came across something in my Dail files that I am trying to get all typed up. It is a Pedigree Chart from Olde Dobbs Trail back in 1989. This gives Jesse Taylor Dail Sr born in Greene d in Choctaw Co, Ala md Julia H. Cox. It gives his father as Benjamin Dail bc 1794-95 in Greene Co md CA 1819 died Greene Co, NC ?? md Elizabeth Taylor?? born in Greene and died in Choctaw. It gives Jesse Taylor Dail Jr as moving on and dying in Wayne Co, Miss. All of this goes with what you posted. If there was more, I must not have kept it. Martha As the Dail name has been discussed recently, I think this is a good time to enter the discussion. I live in Alabama but all my ancestors were in NC before 1835 when the last of them arrived in Sumter Co. AL. About that time John Wylie Taylor arrived with his wife, Rebecca Chaney Wallace Taylor and their two sons, John, Jr. and Francis Nelson Taylor. Sidney Wallace Gibbs, widow of William S. Gibbs and daughter of Rebecca, arrived with her children, John S. and Eliza Gibbs. John Taylor bought land with Willis Taylor in Sumter Co. and Jesse Taylor was involved with the other two in legal matters. Willis Taylor had married Nancy Uzzell in NC. He was born 1805 and married ca 1830 as their first son was Abner R. b.c. 1831. Nancy was sixteen at the time she married. Their second son, Jesse S. Taylor was also b.c. 1833 in NC. The other children were born in Ala. Jesse Taylor died in Meridian, MS and is buried at McLemore Cem.with a tombstone indicating: Born 1802 in Greene Co., NC; Died November 6, 1880 in Meridian, Miss. Jesse Taylor Dail was in 1850 Greene Co. NC census married to Julia Cox. Next door was Benjamin Dail and wife Elizabeth (Taylor?) In 1860 J. T. Dail is in Choctaw County (which county was cut off from Sumter in 1849) and E. Dail (female) is in the home of Jesse Taylor. No record of Benjamin Dail is found in either NC or AL. It seems that the husband of Elizabeth is deceased and she is living with her brother in Choctaw Co. It seems that Willis and Jesse are brothers as Willis named his second son Jesse S. What was their relationship to John Wylie Taylor? John W. died in 1837 of consumption thus putting an end to any legal records by which to trace his life. Will appreciate any information on parentage and siblings of Nancy Uzzell. Perhaps the above will fill in some blanks in the Dail, Uzzell and Taylor families of that area. And I hope I can learn some about them also. Frances
