    3. There is a lot of backtracking those of you with a Westbrook line need to do to try and link some of these people. Obviously a bunch of the other descendants of Moses and Persis Young Westbrook went to Ms and from the email this morning, some may have gone to Ala I checked a transcript of the 1840 Oktibbeha County census and found no Westbrooks. However, it's a different story for Lowndes County. **** Have noted on the database these entries household #11 Charles C. Westbrook 37M farmer NC household #611 Elias Westbrook 28M farmer NC household #614 Benjamn Exum 36M farmer NC Sarah 28F NC Jesse 10M NC Titus 8M NC Piercis 6F NC James 4M NC Lewis 2M MS This is, of course, the Benjamin H. and Sarah Ann Westbrook Exum that I'm descended from. The full name of "Titus" was "Titus Carr." I'm sure that you will agree with my observation that the proximity of the Elias Westbrook household to that of the Benjamin Exum household is indeed suggestive, particularly when you have noted that Elias was a common Carr name. *** No doubt there is a connection. household #370 Rachael Carr 54 NC Julia 28 NC Thomas 27M farmer NC Ruphas 20M farmer NC Dabney 15M farmer NC I have no idea who these folks are. I cannot help but note the name Dabney Carr, which is the same name as Thomas Jefferson's close friend and brother-in-law who was the first person buried in the Monticello Cemetery. **** Yes we usually associate the name Dabney with the Albemarle Co, Va Carr family but I suppose the name Dabney could be a fluke in Dobbs Co. Moses F. Westbrook is listed in the 1840 census for Lowndes County, immediately adjacent to a James Westbrook. Same census, preceding Moses F. and separated by 8 households are (in sequence): Allen Carr. Thomas Holliday, Chasrles Westbrook, and Moses Westbrook *** All of these people are from old Dobbs Co. 1850 Lowndes County Census from typescript compiled by Betty Wood Thomas, 1850 CENSUS LOWNDES COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI, Blewett Company, Columbus, MS, 1978 household #356 John F. Carr 45M planter NC 19 slaves Salina 40F NC Melissa 16F NC Thomas 14M MS Margaret 9F MS John 7M MS Louisa R 9/12F MS **** Not sure I have this. Lawrence P. Carr was on the 1830 Pike Co, Ala Census and there is a John Carr also on this census bc 1790 - 1800. My speculation is they were brothers. Since Lawrence went on to Ms it is reasonable to assume that John might have also IF he was his brother but the above John's dates don't fit with the one in Pike Co. These are just odd-and-ends that I had on hand. I don't believe that I've checked later Oktibbeha County censuses or cemetery records for them. So more could be forthcoming. Also regarding Thomas Hardy Kennedy, I don't have anything on hand. However, I would have had no reason to look for him in the past. I'll bet that he's in the 1850 OK CO census. I'll check when I have an opportunity. **** There is an obvious connection and someone can try and fit it together. Martha
