    1. [NCGREENE] Westbrook, Mewborn, Allen, Kennedy, Darden, Aldridge
    2. Martha Marble
    3. Had a question of Jack as to three deaths in the Westbrook Bible Peggy Westbrook - died 15 Oct 1820 - who was she? Nancy Aldridge - d 16 Fe 1821 - who was she? There are numerous Aldridge's in both Greene and Lenoir Co - I have a hunch I have a line from the Lenoir Co bunch but can't prove it. Percis Allen - d15 April 1830 - bet you are right I had about 7 or 8 Westbrooks on my database before yesterday and one of them was Persis Westbrook who married William Allen and they had a daughter Martha E. Allen, b 1826, who married Thomas Jefferson Kennedy of LEnoir Co. I had no additional information on either William or Persis. Also on my database I have two other William Allens. William married Harriett Mewborn, daughter of Hardy and Deborah Parrott Mewborn. Harriett was William's 2nd wife. Ima's notes indicated there was a lot of questions as to who the first wife was and who the mother of the children was. She had listed as children of Harriett William - died as a child Hardy M. - no further information Margaret Jones Allen - b 18 Dec 1821 - married William S. Darden (mother appears to be wrong) Deborah Parrott Allen - b 21 Dec 1833 These are the notes for these people Children of the first marriage were Martha, and Nancy. There was also a Margaret b 18 December 1821 and a Rebecca, but I am not sure who the mother of these girls were. His estate was settled in Greene County in 1841. Harriett's estate was settled in 1843. Harriett was William's 2nd wife. His first wife is not known, but he had the following children by her: Margaret Allen b 18 December 1821 md William Speight Darden, Martha md Thomas Kenady, Nancy Allen md Joshua L. Carr, Richard James Allen, and Rebecca Allen. OTHER NOTES INDICATE THAT MARGARET WAS A DAUGHTER OF HARRIETT. TRY AND CONFIRM THIS. William S. Darden and Levi Mewborn were guardians to heirs of William Allen. Allen's Negroes were divided in 1841, the estate was settled in 1841 and an infant died in 1841. Harriett received as her Allotment of Dower the following land - 400 acres alloted out of 1200 lying on Sandy Run beginning at the mouth of the lane that divides between Lasiter and Wm. Allen with the lane to Reddicks line to Sand Run up Sandy run to the mouth of Maple Branch up Maple Branch to the cross fence called the Hemby field fence to the South corner at the road then stright with the road until it strikes the maple branch then to Grimsley's line then to the County road to Uzzle Lasiters then to the beginning. >From "Greene County, NC Estate Records" by William Murphy. It would appear the William Allen who married Persis Westbrook and then married Harriett Mewborn was the same man. The Persis Allen in the Westbrook Bible must be the first wife. Since she died in 1830, any children born before that time to William Allen would be hers and not Harrietts. Means I have to move Margaret. One can assume from this that the Peggy Westbrook in the Bible with a Death Date was probably Persis' sister for whom Persis named her daughter, Margaret. That would also indicate Nancy Aldridge may have been a sister. Anyone have a Nancy as the wife of an Aldridge? Jack and Mary - who could have been the father of these girls - Henry? Martha
