Just from Chron. of Pitt Co. so it may be something passed down in that family. I went through Leah Mcglohon's book pretty thoroughly and she didn't have anything on it. She has done more actual research on Worthington's of this area than most people. This is not necessarily related, but one of the families in that same area was Carney Worthington. As far as I know, his father has not been identified. At least, I don't know it yet. Just now I was looking at an email from the COBB list and it showed a Kearney (Carney). Do you know if those names are derivations of the same name? I know there were Kearneys and there were Carneys. Could they be the same family? Probably need to ask Sammy.
