I keep running into the claim that he is the son of Kinchen Cobb of Pitt Co. who was dec'd 1826. I doubt this claim as I have found no evidence Kinchen of Pitt ever had any sons. I am trying to trace a William G. Cobb born 1820's who was on the 1860 Greene Co. census along with Kinchen. I wonder if they may have been brothers. I believe there was a Kinchen Cobb who was in the Mexican War from Edgecombe. Co. I have wondered if that Kinchen may be the same one who later showed up in Greene and married Penny Brand.
