Debbie, I have Lewis James Johnson the son of Hardee Johnson (Johnston), Sr., b. Abt 1774 Pitt Co., d. 1826 Pitt Co. and Katherine Cannon, b. 1774 Pitt Co., d. 1852 Pitt Co. Siblings were Hardee (Hardy) Johnson, Jr., b. 27 Sep 1809, Cannon Johnson, b. Bef 1810, Jemima Johnson, b. Bef 1810, William Johnson, b. Abt 1810, Julia Ann Johnson, b. Abt 1818, Susan Johnson, b. Bef 1820 and Anna Catherine Johnson, b. Abt 1820. Hardee Johnston, Sr. was the son of James Johnston, Jr., b. 1754, d. Oct 1817 Pitt Co. and Mary "Polly" Jordan, b. Bef 1756 and d. Aft 1816. James Johnston, Sr., b. Bef 1736 and d. Aft 1781 Pitt Co. was in Edgecombe Co. in 1761. In 1762 he purchased land in Pitt Co. from John Wooten on John Williams Mill Creek near Faulkland. He was in the 1764 Pitt Co. tax list. Mary "Polly" Jordan's father, Richard Jordan, b. Abt 1730, d. ?, also moved from Edgecombe to Pitt Co. He first purchased land in Pitt Co. from the same John Wooten in 1768 and was a neighbor of James Johnston, Sr. Katherine Cannon was the daughter of Lewis Cannon, b. Abt 1750 Pitt Co., d. Dec 1816 Craven Co. and Sarah Allen, b. Bef 1745 and d. Bef 1817. (Some believe Lewis Cannon's wife was Sarah Pugh. There were multiple Lewis Cannons in Pitt Co., so it gets very confusing.) Lewis Cannon's line goes back to Edward Cannon, I , b. Abt 1600 Yorkshire, England, d. Bef 1673, Lower Norfolk Co., VA. I frankly don't trust my data on this family; I think I'm missing a generation between Edward I and Lewis. Sarah Allen was the daughter of Shadrach Allen, b. Bef 1727, d. 1780 Craven Co., and Jemima Unknown, b. Bef 1729, d. Aft 1780. She was the sister of Shadrach Allen and Colonel John Allen whom George Washington visited on his "Southern Tour." Lewis Cannon & Sarah Allen lived near Pitchkettle in Pitt Co. Late in life he bought a lot in New Bern and moved into town where he died. I'll be happy to send you an ancestor file with my notes if you would like. Sammy Anson Pierce Hobe Sound, FL
