This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Harris, Grizzard, Banks Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/GUB.2ACE/242.262 Message Board Post: Is their anyway to get more information on the Grizzard & Harris families buried there? It could help me with my search. Are their any Banks buried there? This is what I know. Kinion (Kinyan) Harris b 1804 in Pitt, m.Sarah abt 1824 in Pitt. Children are James b1831, Fanny E. b1833, Richard b1837, John b1848. The 1860 Pitt census has a mulatto boy named Heymerick (Hymerick) age 12 living with the Harris'. I am trying to get information on Heymerick Banks because he could be related to my gggfather Hambrey Banks. Kinion may have also married Elizabeth in 1870. There is also a nephew (?) named Kinion born 1858 (m.Eliza Grizzard May 2, 1881) son of Henry & Mary Harris who also had a daughter Nancy E. born 1848. In the 1860 census there is a Rebecca Banks 54 who may be working for Mary Harris but she is not listed as Mulatto Hambrey Banks (Native/African American) is my gggfather born 1851. I found him in the 1880 Pitt County NC census married to Flora (Wiggins) listed as Mulattos at ages 29 & 24. I'm also finding in Pitt death records Hambrick, Hamlet, Hamrick, Hambut and now Heymerick Banks. I'm still investigate wheter these other Pitt County Banks are related to my Hambrey. These names are so unusual possibly they are names given by a slave owner. These names all seem to a have Irish ring to them, possibly the slave owner. Are your Harris' slave owners around 1850 in Pitt County NC??
