    1. [NCGREENE] Fields, Beaman, Hill
    2. Martha Marble
    3. Did a little work at the library this morning trying to separate the Rhode Island Fields from the Brittle clan. Found a couple of interesting things. John Field who was born in Rhode Island, lived in Greene Co, died in Henry Co, Tenn - married Martha Speight so they say - had a will in Henry Co, Tenn. Written 1844 and probated between 1850 and 1856. 17 Sept 1844 - not sure when probated but after 1850 and before 1856 - wife Martha, daughters Martha and Freelove, Mary Kennedy and her children to live with mother while single, property equally divided at wife's death except for Bennett Fields and Nancy Beeman who have already received theirs. Mentioned was Edmond Beeman. My heirs (no commas between names) Ruby Martha Levison Freelove and Nancy Ann Frances the heirs of Nancy Beamon Executors were John and Seth Fields Now, Bennett Fields remained in Greene Co and his father had already taken care of him. I wonder if Nancy who appears to have married a Beaman - Edmond? - did also. As to Jeremiah Fields, assumed son of Brittle Fields Jeremiah was on the 1830 Greene Co Census with James Mooring on one side and Tabitha Hill on the other. On the other side of Tabitha was Lemuel Hill. Jeremiah by his wife Mary - surname unknown - had among other children - Thomas H. and Lemuel. WOnder if his wife Mary was a Hill of the Greene Hills? 3. Completely forgot this until a few minutes ago. Was talking to Aileen Mewborn last weekend just to chat. She said she thinks that John Rouse I was married to a Mozingo. Now it was not clear to me if she was talking about John I or II. SOmething to do with a piece of land that one of the Mozingo's received probably as a patent, cleared the land and then John Rouse ended up with it - I assume without buying it. Does this ring a bell with any of you Mozingo researchers? Martha

    3. ****Just received this from Jane Pat Faulkner ask me to send you this e-mail asking that no one open any e-mail that is coming from her as she is sending none to anyone. It looks as if W32/[email protected] Virus has gotten into her computer. I received a strange e-mail from Pat last night. When I opened the attachment my virus scan stopped it. I called Pat to let her know. It scared her as she had sent no e-mail to anyone yesterday and she couldn't understand what had happened. After much talk we realized what had happened. Pat is going to try to get the problem corrected today. *** Now, I also received one from Pat and my McAfee did not stop it so I opened it and then this morning sent Pat a message because nothing was on it. It came into me as C:\ATTACHMENTS\NAV.gif" I ran an update from McAfee and then a scan on the pc and nothing showed up; however, I may have this virus. PLEASE, if you receive an attachment from me today, DO NOT OPEN IT and please advise me ASAP. What a mess. Martha

    3. there has been several Hill queries on this list lately. Do any of you have anything on the father of Penelope Hill who married a Thigpen in the mid 1700's. The Thigpens settled the area known as "Penny Hill." Without looking it up, I don't remember if the Thigpen was James or if he was John. He was the father of Gilead. 3. We have a number of list members who live in Texas, some in the Houston area but not sure about La. Just heard from Kay and the water came up to her front door. As she said, the furniture can be replaced, but not the genealogy research over 30 years. Emailed Rose yesterday but have not heard from her. One of my new correspondants who was in the process of sending me additional information on the Hardee family of Lenoir has been flooded out. That entire area looks like eastern NC after Floyd. Our thoughts and prayers are with those list members who are affected and we sincerely hope their personal damage will not be great. Martha

    3. I have just had to remove a list member - Jewel. Just received 5 more emails from her with an attachment with a virus/worm. Attempts to reach her by phone have not been successful. As soon as she cleans up her pc, she is more than welcome to subscribe again as I consider her a valuable list member. According to Paula, any message she has not read receives a reply to you so PLEASE DO NOT OPEN THE ATTACHMENTS. Jewelle spends a lot of time at the beach so in her defense, not sure she even knows she has a problem. This is my first experience with this type of virus/worm coming in the back door so please accept my apology and that of Jewelle. No doubt it will not be the last time, but next time I will not wait so long before removing a member. Martha

    1. [NCGREENE] Re: Pope, Darden, Edwards, Carr, Fields, Albritton, Harper, Speight, Uzzell, Hardee
    2. Martha Marble
    3. THink this is getting complicated enough to send it to the list because know we have one good Darden researcher on the Greene list. This comes under the heading of - we got off on a tangent. Was entering some of my information on the Fields family of Lenoir and in entering the information on the branch that married into the Pope family wanted to try and do some linking. Already had a fair amount of information on John and Mary Pope of Greene Co. At least I assume it is the same John and Mary Pope since there were Popes in Pitt Co also. Col John Hardee of Pitt had a granddaughter, Mary Pope, who was probably the child of Abraham and Susannah Hardee Enloe. IS THIS MARY THE GRANDDAUGHTER OF COL JOHN HARDEE OF PITT? The few names we have don't fit the usual Hardee names. Redding W. Pope of Lenoir Co married Olivia Fields in 1868. The Fields and Pope family Bibles state Redding was the son of Redding and Nancy Pope. I have Redding Pope b 1775 md to Sarah Carr daughter of Titus Carr. They had three children, Henry, Edward and Robert who was b in 1816. No further information. This Redding Pope was the son of John and Mary Pope. John and Mary Pope also had children that we know of - Sarah b 1777 who md James Albritton Nancy Ann b 1787 who married Robert Harper John b 1779 who md Nancy How Speight and then Ann Harper One would assume that Redding Pope who md Nancy fits in this family somewhere but where. Did Nancy die and Redding remarry a sweet young thing or are we missing a generation. In the BIble that Chris has with the information on Redding and Sarah Carr Pope is the entry Nancy W. Edwards departed this life in the year of our Lord January the 24th 1837" Nancy W. Edwards was Nancy W. Darden, daughter of Abraham Darden and she married Henry Edwards. After her death, Henry married Lucretia Uzzell. Chris wants to know who the parents of Henry Edwards were. This Bible ended up in the home of Lucretia and Henry Edwards - WHY? Why was the entry in the Bible for Nancy E. Darden Edwards and what connection was there between her and the Pope family - where the name Nancy is found. ANyone have any clues?
