Guy just posted on Lenoir Archives - Newspapers - Richard Caswell - some clippings that Roger sent to me for typing and posting. He said there was another one even earlier regarding the location of the grave but he has misplaced it. It appears the discussion of Caswell's burial place has been going on since at least 1830's. Bill is in the process of a re-canvass of the Pitt Cemeteries and Betsy has placed them online as she has time. The Greene Cemeteries were done by the late Mary Elizabeth Kilpatrick and some by the late Bill Murphy, but neither book is available today. Very few of them are online as both books have a copyright and would have to be redone. If Mary's patience does not give out in Pitt, Bill might try to do some of the Greene Cemeteries in the future. Julia, Going to forward this to the various lists. Don't know of any direct descendants but think there are some in Pitt Co. Hymrick Sr married Elizabeth Phillips the sister of my THomas Phillips but I don't live in the area. One of the Lenoir list members restores old stones, but of course this is his business and sooner or later have to get him to repair Elizabeth's grand nephew's stone. I hate to see old graveyards go down like this because next thing you know, they are plowed over. Thought I would repost this again since families will be getting together for the holidays. Maybe someone might be able to make my Christmas. This family was from around the Wayne and Greene County area in N.C. I would like to find parents or siblings of this James Rose. He has been my brickwall for three years now. My great great grandfather was James Rose who married Mary Carraway. Mary was the daughter of James Carraway and Sarah Chase. Mary had siblings Henry Bell Carraway and George Carraway. James and Mary Rose had children John Wright Rose who married Cora Walston, Bushion Rose who married Liety Jones, Hardy Rose who married Minnie ??? and Nannie Rose who married 1st William Walston in Greene Co. in 1895 and 2nd W. Frank Pittman in 1922 in Wilson Co. After James Rose's death, in about 1890, Mary married Joseph Teachey or Teacher in 1900 in Greene Co., NC. John Wright Rose was my great grandfather and his daughter, Bertha Leigh, was my grandmother. Other information I have on Hardy Rose is he is buried in Pikeville Cemetery and he had a son, Archie Rose, who owned a trucking company in Goldsboro. Hardy also had other children, Minnie Ruth who married Ed Howell, Haywood, Pauline, and Lucy. If anyone has any information on this family please contact me at [email protected] Thanks, Chris

William Tyson, wife Annie and two infant children are also buried in Reedy Branch. Willie Baker is also buried in Reedy Branch. I'm trying to find out who Fanny/Frances Tyson married if anyone. She is listed in the 1880 Pitt County census with William Tyson and Mary Lula "Pussy" Tyson. They are listed as her son and daughter, which we knew from family oral history. Thomas and Rachel Tyson may be Frances Tyson's in-laws, not her mother and father. I just don't know. _________________________________________________________________ Chat with friends online, try MSN Messenger: http://messenger.msn.com

If you have Thomas M. Tyson and Lucinda in your line, would you please contact me? Thomas M. Tyson and Lucinda are living in Pitt County in the 1880 census. They are one house away from my Fanny Tyson. I am guessing that he was her brother or brother-in-law. Any guesses as to who Fanny Tyson is? She would have been born in the 1830s. Any help would be appreciated. _________________________________________________________________ MSN Photos is the easiest way to share and print your photos: http://photos.msn.com/support/worldwide.aspx
May each of you and your families have a joyful Christmas. From the lack of decorations in my neighborhood and talking to a number of families, it appears that many people are making an effort to go "home" to be with extended family this year. Instead of spending a lot of money on presents people seem to be returning to the true meaning of Christmas - family and the many traditions we grew up with and most important, the celebration of the Birth of Christ or the celebration of Hanukkah. Some of you have very ill family members or have lost family members recently and we will keep you in our thoughts and prayers because this will be a difficult time for you. As we reflect on the events of the fall, we all hope the New Year will not bring a repeat and we pray for peace in the world. We hope our service people who are abroad protecting us will be safe and soon return home. Martha

Tracy's original information is correct. the Christmas Special until Dec 31 for the two books is $80 plus $10.00 shipping. They had to go up on the shipping recently because it was costing $5.00 per book to mail. That new information will be changed on the website. These are large books and heavy. Of course, if you live in the area, you can pick them up and save $10.00. Only checks or money orders are accepted and should be made out to the Lenoir County Historical Association and sent to Mary Mac Ritch whose snail mail address is on the website. http://www.historicalpreservationgroup.org/HistAssoc/books.html Martha
Surprised my inbox has not been full. Just realized that what Mary Mac said in her email is more than the regular price!!! Have asked her to clarify and will advise with her answer ASAP. Martha
Not sure Tracy is at home today and figured better run this ASAP. Appears there was a mixup on the "special" Christmas price on the Heritage Book and Plain and Fancy. Sorry about that but this has been put together really fast and under the circumstances, Tracy has done an outstanding job. Many thanks to her for her time and efforts on behalf of the Historical Association. Martha > You may want to change your wording " For a limited time only - >Christmas Special - both books for $90 plus $5.00 each for mailing". Thank you both for all your help. I have two inquiries today >that I have already replied. Mary Mac Mary Mac K. Ritch >(252) 522-3375 >Email: [email protected]
