I am looking for information on Green Emery (Emory) born in 1804 in North Carolina and Elizabeth "Betty" Ladd married in Granville County, North Carolina on 31 October 1825. She was born in 1807 in North Carolina. Their children were William Lewis born 18 July 1835 in North Carolina. The rest of their children were born in Tennessee; they were Gila; Tilothy; and Martha. I would like to know who Green Emery's parents were; if he had a brother named Jesse or was this his father. I have been told both and cannot confirm either one. Any help would be appreciated. Hello Shirley. I am not researching either family, however a quick look at the 1820 -1840 census of Granville County shows that there was only one LADD family living there, that of JESSE LADD. In 1830 Granville Co.,NC, Southern Regiment, Ancestry Image 13, GREEN EMORY was living 3 houses away from JESSEE LADD,who was listed as aged 50-60 years old in a household with 5 other males below 20, and 1 female, aged 50-60. The other EMORY/EMERYs that year in the same district were JOHN EMORY(Image 9), his age was 40-50, probable wife age 30-40; JOHN EMERY (Image 21), age 40-50, probable wife age 50-60; and MARTHA EMORY (Image 11) age 60-70. In 1820 Granville Co.,Capt. Hatchs Dist., Image 2, there was JESSE LDD, with 4 males under age 10, with his age 26-45; and 3 females under 26, as well as 1 female aged 26-45. The census was taken alphabetically that year, so it's difficult to tell who lived next door. It is apparent that all of the LADD daughters had married by 1830, and would probably have included your ELIZABETH LADD. You may want to check out the will and deed books for Granville to see what they might offer in addition to the census records.
