    1. Samuel F. Williams (1759 Granville Co., NC-d. ca 1835 Henderson Co., KY)
    2. Samuel F. Williams filed a Revolutionary War pension claim in Henderson Co., KY in the 1850s. It was rejected because he had not served six months in the Revolutionary army or militia. Besides, when the statements he gave about those with whom he served, etc. were compared with the actual facts, he seems to have stretched the truth somewhat!!! In the same claim, Williams stated he came to Henderson Co., KY ca 1806, and that seems to coincide with records concerning his activities in Henderson Co., KY and with the public records in Granville Co. NC. He was the son of William Williams (d. testate Dec 1770 at Boonesborough, now Madison Co., KY), a nephew of John Williams, Esq., long a judge in both Granville Co., NC and in the State of North Carolina, and a first cousin once removed of Col. Richard Henderson of Granville Co., NC. Samuel F. was the father of at least eight children and perhaps nine children, one of them being Samuel S. Williams [called Samuel Williams, Jr. in the 1820 census], who was later of Hickman Co., KY (deeds, court records, administration). Some of Samuel F.'s other sons were Alfred, John, William, and Dudley. The first three of these can be found in records of Henderson Co., but Dudley Williams appears, it seems, on only one Henderson Co. tax list. It is believed William's' daughter Nancy Williams was the first wife of George Negley and mother of a number of his children. This is one of the many records of Samuel Farrar Williams of Granville Co., NC. His mother was Phillis, whom some believe was nee Beckham. Phillis later married John Mitchell in Granville co., and she was named in Mitchell's will. In Henderson Co., KY, Williams married 2nd ca 1814 the widow of his neighbor of Lot 23--David Stephens. His 2nd wife was Elizabeth Stephens--and he became stepfather to her approximately eight children, according to court records. Samuel S. Williams, believed to be his son, married his stepsister, Catherine Stephens, in 1817, in Henderson Co., KY. Samuel S. Williams died intestate ca 1838, Hickman Co., KY, and Jesse H. Williams, later of Ballard Co., KY, was administrator. Here is one of the many Granville Co., NC records pertaining to Williams: GRANVILLE COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA November 25th 1796 Agreeable to an order hereunto … directed to Elijah Mitchell Thomas Satterwhite esq James Vaughan Henry Lyne & William Byars or any three of them to settle with the Executors of William Williams decd there accts with said esate Estate & Report.
