You wrote: Is anyone familiar with the Grassy Creek area? 640 acres for Lewis Collins, Howard Groves. Comment: Grassy Creek flows or did flow into Virginia also. Many families held land in both states--NC and VA. I was trying to discover Nutbush Creek in Granville Co. and discovered that it now empties into Kerr Reservoir. That may be true of Grassy Creek also. What is the source of the information you posted? Zae Hargett Gwynn years ago abstracted many records of early Granville Co., NC which is now many counties, including Vance Co. Lately Timothy Rackley has published some deeds taking up where Gwynn left off, and he also has published some wills of Granville Co. Look at the Family History LIbrary Catalog on www.familysearch.org for books and films (films you can borrow through an LDS center near your home) on old Granville Co., NC. Another author, recently published, is Thomas McAdory Owen. And, of course, books by Margaret M. Hofmann about the land grants are quite useful. DO NOT rely heavily on an old book about Granville Co. by Worth S. Ray. Some of the conclusions he reached about some of the genealogies of the families are grossly flawed.
