    3. Good Morning Deloris Thank you so very much for all your diligent effort, I'm very grateful. I was excited when you mention Randolph O'Briant and Prudence Dixon (my 3rd g-grandparents) I've yet to find out who were Prudence Dixon parents and you've given me a path to follow. My email is open to you for any attachments to send <big smiles> I'm reading your input to Dorothy and find your advice extremely helpful in my case. The more involved I become in genealogy, with great interest I find myself needing to open my mind up to broader spectrums besides Granville and Person Co. where the majority of my ancestors are found. It wasn't until a few months ago the light bulb click to seriously look into Edgecombe and Richmond Counties <sigh> now that you mention it (excellent advice) I'll be more aware of furthering my options even more. Even though I've been actively involved in genealogy for the last 10 years I still consider myself a new bee and still learning as opposed to researchers that have 40 plus years experience under their belt. Living in Virginia I find from my trips at the Richmond State Archives several NC, KY, TN, etc. residences from the earlier years (1600 to 1800) that are now indicated in more present time lines. At my local Roanoke library the NC books are limited but with luck and surprise I found the 1st and 2nd volume of the Person Co., book, a Granville Court Record book and a few other miscellaneous ones. The additional counties that you have mentioned are very beneficial to me and I will certainly follow through. There are several different books that have deed & will information for these counties, however, most of them are out of print. I bought the Person County book several years ago and a couple of Granville County Abstract books about the same time while I was researching my ancestors. I guess the Granville County info I quoted in my message on the O'Briants happened to contain exchanges with Person County folks. Many of the people from Person were originally in Granville, and before that Edgecombe County, mostly due to the formation of the North Carolina Counties over the years. I always find its a good idea to research the names one is looking for in all of the surrounding NC counties because most of them started out as just 1 or 2 large counties for the area, and split up over the years to form new counties. So doing research for the Person County area, for instance, one has to consider also researching ancestors in Caswell, Orange, Granville,Johnston, & Bladen, as well as Edgecombe, Bertie & Chowan, all depending on what years you are looking for. It's a good idea to keep a listing of the NC counties handing that shows when & where they were formed from.
