Jean, I have an Amanda Mangum b. 1825 Granville Co., NC, the daughter of Reavis Mangum and Martha Wilkerson. Amanda married Samuel Peace Estes b. 1824 Granville Co., NC, the son of John Estes and Martha Peace. In 1849, Samuel and Amanda moved from just north of Raleigh, Wake Co., NC., and they established a home in the Ball Play Community, of Benton Co., now Calhoun Co., AL. In 1859, they moved just over the county line to Cherokee Co., AL. I also have a Charlotte Mangum b. 1792, the daughter of William Mangum, who married James Estes b. 1792 Granville Co., NC, the son of John Estes and Sarah Bennett. By 1860, James and Charlotte had moved from Granville Co., NC to Dekalb Co., TN. Are either of these families connected to your Mangums of Granville County?
