Land grants in North Carolina were recorded by individual counties. The North Carolina archives in Raleigh has microfilm copies of most, if not all, North Carolina land grants. There is a book with information on development and growth of North Carolina counties. I DO NOT OWN A COPY OF THIS BOOK. I don't know what county in North Carolina would hold records for a land grant for territory now in Tennessee: it's POSSIBLE that that record may actually be in Tennessee. (Check with the East Tennessee Historical Center in Knoxville if you haven't done so already. They might be able to assist you with where to look.) Elizabeth Whitaker in South Carolina
