This is the only documented record I have. This would have been after he came to Ky. Rachel was his sister, widow of John Dinwiddie. Someone told me there was a record of him selling his land before he came to Ky. I found him (or his father, both named Ruben) on the Tax records in Jefferson County, Ky. in 1800. He is first found on the census in Ky. in 1810 in Hardin Co., Ky. Any thing you find will be greatly appreciated. "Deed Book D Page 474 13 March 1816 Reuben NEWTON atty in fact for Rachel IRELAND and guardian for Elizabeth DINWIDDIE and William DINWIDDIE of Hardin Co. KY to Charles GREGORY of Person Co. I would like to know if there is an index to the Person Co., NC. census from 1790 or 1780. I am new to this list and am looking for Ruben Newton s/o Ruben Newton. They migrated to Kentucky about 1800. Ruben Jr. was married to Mary G. Newton. I have no information on Mary other than the record of their marriage in Persons Co. NY of Dec. 23 1815. Get more from the Web. FREE MSN Explorer download : http://explorer.msn.com
I am inquiring as to if any of the CCs in NCGenWeb would be interested in adopting the county list for their respective county. In most cases I have maintained them for the last several years or so, but need to cut back a little. My intent was for the lists to be used for genealogical research & discussion and most are slow, but if the lists can be used and the CC doesn't mind, I might consider turning over the appropriate list for their county. My wife and I plan to move from CA to TX and I desire that some of the lists be continued since during the move, it will be dificult to care for all of them. As I know more as to when I will move and my plans firm up, I will need to turn over a few of the county lists that I have. Any offer to take over a county list can reach me at "w6uyf01@earthlink.net" and let me know what county you are CC for. Thanks again.. Sincerely, Edward A. Black, Sr.
The Battle of Ramsaur's Mill took place on June 20, 1780, in Lincoln Co., NC. Philip Logan was listed as a soldier in Capt. James Houston's North Carolina Rangers. Am looking for additional information about Capt. Houston's Rangers during the period from May 1780 through June 1780. Mainly trying to find out if this Philip Logan is the same one who served in the 4th Continental Line under Col. Thomas Polk in Capt. Templeton Cole's unit from about April 1777 till January 1780. Any help will be appreciated. Arnold Logan North Richland Hills, TX
