Granades farm not far down, from them, judging by census. Can anyone connect me to the correct line of Harrells ? There are about 1 million of them...my grandfather probably came down from Gates or Bertie counties, but I'm at an end for now. Same with Lee's, and Granades. My husband doesn't know much about his paternal side. His father left when he was about 5 years old. All that we know is that his name is Richard Duke Hanna, born Richard Duke Ard in Durham County, North Carolina on January 19, 1938. His mother's name was Jane or Jany Harriet Louisa Ard of Rockingham, North Carolina. She was born about 1922 in Florence County, South Carolina. She died at about 21 years of age delivering twin girls who also died. Richard has a half brother, Stuart Hanna. After Richard's mother died, when he was about 5 or 6 years old, he went to live with an aunt and uncle by the last name of Landen. Any information on these families would be appreciated or even suggestions on where to start doing genealogical research would be greatly appreciated.
