Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/1UB.2ACE/5015.1 Message Board Post: I am a gggg granddaughter of Isaac C. Allen & Frances Pettit. My ggg grandparents were Isam & Martha Montgomery Allen. In researching this line recently, I found Isam, Martha & family living in Floyd Co. KY in 1820 & living near them was a Thompson Poplett. He must have been about the same age as Isam (between 20&30). He had no sons living at home but had 1 female under 10 & 1 female between 16&26, like Martha. In Martha's family group from Family Search, she had a sister, Jane, b 6 May 1800 & d 6 Nov 1841 in Knox, Illinois. Their father, John Montgomery was a soldier in the Rev. War. He was b 5 Aug 1764 in Scott Va & d. 26 Jan 1845 in Princeville, Peoria, Ill. He was m. 5 Aug 1785 in Va. to Shusannah Porter, b 29 Jul 1763 in Guilford, NC & d. 30 Nov 1802 in Va. If Jane Montgomery, Martha's sister m. Thompson Poplett that would explain why they lived close. Now I wonder which event happened first: Isaac marrying Margaret or Thompson marrying Jane. I have no info on who Thompson's parents were but from the years you had for Thompson & Margaret, she would have been about the right age to be his mother. Cyndy Thompson

We found our Ulysis in Florida. The reason we were looking for him was to help find his brother, who had left his wife and children in the early 1930s and no one ever heard from him again. We found him in the state of Washington, but he had died in l999, but the lady we were doing the research for who was his daughter found she had 7 half brothers and sisters and she flew there at Thanksgiving to meet them and they are all thrilled with their new family. It was quite an adventure for all of us. Again, thanks for responding. Bobbie

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: McIntire Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/1UB.2ACE/8145.1.1 Message Board Post: I suspect my Zachary McIntire was born in North Carolina because he served in a Union regiment formed in North Carolina. However, I have no proof. He could be from either North Carolina or South Carolina. The regiment was formed in New Bern North Carolina which is in the southeastern part of the state. Oral family history says he sided with the Union while the rest of his family sided with the Confederacy, and hence, he was rejected by his family and never again communicated with them. His wife was born in Tennessee. Several of his wife's siblings were married in western Rockcastle County Kentucky. Therefore, I have a strong hunch he met and married his wife in Rockcastle County Kentucky sometime in the early 1870's. The first of his children was born on 6/14/1873. I suspect all of his children were born in Kentucky, probably Rockcastle County, and I suspect he was married in Rockcastle County. He is listed in the 1890 Pulaski County Kentucky census. He and his fa! mily lived in eastern Pulaski County Kentucky at the intersections of Rockcastle County and Laurel County. Any information you have on your Zachary would be greatly appreciated. I will be very happy to find out where my Zachary comes from.
