On page 284 the following is abstracted. "Allen Mon(t)joy & wife Mary 'to our loving son William Wood.' 3 July 1765. 'For natural love and good will,' 280 A in the fork & on the south branch of Icing Glass Creek..." This goes on with the witnesses, but I haven't a clue who Allen Montjoy might be, unless he adopted William very early on, when he married William's mother. Or, perhaps, this could have been a little joke between William and the Montjoys, because he took care of them or something. I don't know. Or maybe it's another William." Sometimes, a son-in-law was referred to as a son. Are you aware of any of this WOOD family who may have gone to N.GA? I have a Thomas WOOD (d.abt.1827) and and his wife, Mary, with children Phoebe T. (b.1811); Daniel A. (b.1815); Washington M.; Louise McKenzie (b.1814); Martha Elizabeth; Ann L.G.; Lucretia Ellen (b.1816); Lauring L.; William Lewis (b.1823); and Thomas Russell J. (b.1827). They are my 3rd g-grandparents. Their dau., Phoebe T. (b. in GA) and her husband, Levi BAKER (b. in Franklin Co., NC) are my 2nd g-grandparents. Thanks, and good luck on your research! Pam
