Hi, Franklin county folks. I just sent you a message which should have been sent to the Rutherford List, and I am sorry not to have looked closer at the heading I was using. Sorry about that!! Hi, all. I am in need of information on one couple of my GGGP. A man named Sherrod Sanders (Saunders) is said to have been born in Rutherford Co., NC on 12-25-1791. If I am not mistaken, the area of Rutherford at that time was very large, including much of the south side of the entire state of NC. Maps provided with census information concerning all the states show that in many cases, one original very large county was re-sized downward, into two or more smaller areas, as the years passed, and the population increased. From what I understand, Rutherford Co. was one of those, at least once, if not more than once. So, if Sherrod was born in 1791, what area of the larger Rutherford Co. was his birth-place?? Who were his parents, other forebears, and siblings? His wife, married ?-?-????, was a lady whose only identity in our records is Rachel T.(?) Sanders. Rachel is said to have been born in NC (where?) on 9-4-1793. Who were her parents, other forebears, and siblings? After their wedding, these two moved to Perry Co., Alabama, where at least one child was born. He was George W. Sanders, born ?-?-1838. If these names are known to you, would you please contact this writer, and share any information you wish to provide? It would be very much appreciated. Thanks. Here's an off-the-wall question: Does anyone know of any families in the Franklin or Granville area whose members were albino? (Some people prefer the term "person with albinism -- I have the condition, and I'm not that picky about it.) If you've heard stories or seen picture of folks with extremely pale skin and/or hair and eyes, they might have had this condition. (Don't believe the "pink eyes" hype....most of us have light blue or grey eyes.) Albinism is caused by a recessive gene that has to be present in both parents to manifest in offspring. My grandmother thought that there was some in the Morton-Lucas lines (her husband's) and had heard that there might have been in the Preddy line. She couldn't remember for sure, and she's not around to ask anymore. Obviously, there is no way to "prove" anything with this kind of information, but I'm just curious about the prevalence. Thanks Renee
Does anyone have information on the following family in Franklin Co.? Either going back or coming forward would be helpful. This information in from the 1910 and 1920 census for Franklin County, Franklinton township and from my sister's baby book: Alexander Morton, born abt 1871 in Franklin Co., NC Katie LUCAS (Morton) born abt 1874 in Franklin Co. NC Children (all born in Franklin Co.): Thomas Henry born abt April 14, 1898. Died April 1968. Married Ellen Gardner PREDDY bet 1918-1922. They divorced bef 1930. Charles S. born abt 1902 Andrew born abt 1906-1907 Oza born abt 1906-1907 (twin?) Sam born abt 1912 Alexander born abt 1918 My mother thought that there was a Florence, who married a Poole and lived in Raleigh in the 1950s and also a Lawrence. I have not been able to find evidence for Lawrence, and I think Florence may be Oza. Sam Morton lived in Atlanta, Ga for many years and died there within the past 15 years.

New to the list and would like to ask a favor of someone. I need a look-up... I recently found that a Guy Clopton was in Franklin Co., NC in 1810. There was also a Peggy Clopton. Could someone help me here? I have in my files that Guy was in Roane County, TN before 1820. I find him in Rutherford Co., TN for the 1820 census and by 1830 he was in MO. I've been looking for several years for the parents of my ggg. grandmother Jane P. Clopton. She married a James Hanks Miller in 1802, place unknown. They lived in Roane Co., TN until her death. There was also a Patsey Clopton that witnessed a deed in early records of Roane Co. Would love to know the connection of Guy, Jane P, and Patsey. These names familiar to anyone. Thank you. Wanda
Hi all, I am looking for any information on Thomas Bridges , whom I believe to be a relative somehow maybe a cousin to my John Bridges who was married to Margaret Vance, whom can be viewed on my website located at: http://people.ce.mediaone.net/backster/index.html . Both John and Thomas lived in the Morgan and McDonough Counties in Illinois. John was in Morgan county from 1823 to 1829 before moving on to McDonough County. THomas might have been born between 1800 to 1810. He may have come from North Carolina area before coming to Illinois. Thomas was married to Frances Miller on August 25, 1831. THey had at least 5 children, James M., Elder, Sarah, Mary, and Thomas. Below is some pieces I have gathered. I would also like to know who the M Amicy female age 79 born in North Carolina is in the 1850 McDonough County census further down in this message. John Bridges died in 1844 in a farming accident as I was told by someone, I see that Thomas is not in the 1850 census, could! it be that he was killed in the same accident or perhaps died other ways in the 1840's? Any information on Frances Miller would be helpful too. I have added other lists in the email address with names that are related to the Bridges. Maybe Thomas Bridges and Frances Miller might grab someone's attention. thanks, julie:) September 1830- John Bridges and Thomas Bridges were selected as grand jury men of the 3rd meeting of the first regular term of the County Commisioners Court to select a grand jury petitt jury for the october term of the Circuit Court, being the first term. Does anyone have any information on Hardy Bird. Don't have any kind of dates on him except he would have been having children around 1806, so I guess this puts him mid to late 1700's. I know there were a lot of Birds in Franklin Co. around this time. Thought I'ld give it a shot. Contact me at angela@cocentral.com Thanks, Chris
I have a few questions about the Perry families of Franklin Co. pre 1800. My grandfather Perry's family has been traced back to Macajah Perry who came to Warren Co., GA from North Carolina, supposedly Franklin Co just before 1800. My aunt has compiled the direct line information through Bible Records, Legal, Census & Cemetery Records & Interviews with elderly relatives. She has indicated in the family group record for Macajah that his father was Jeremiah Perry of NC, specifically the Jeremiah who was born about 1730 & died about 1777 in Franklin Co. She has Micajah's date of birth at about 1772. I suppose that would put his place of birth as Franklin Co. He married Mary Polly Banks, May 31, 1805 in GA. Mary supposedly was born in NC about 1784. Recently I read a few excepts about Jeremiah, b. 1731, of the Charles Wesley Perry book, which I understand is not to be taken as fact because of lack of documentation. It does raise the question in my mind as to what has been documented. Have the children of Jeremiah, b. 1731 been documented? The C.W.Perry book doesn't mention a few of the children my aunt has on record for Jeremiah. I have found legal records in Warren Co., GA for a Jeremiah(I assume Jr.), Burrell, Willis & Kiddy, Micajah, Benjamin. I understand that the Perrys tended to name their children the same names so I shouldn't assume that these were brothers. However my aunt lists the following children for Jeremiah, b. 1731: Jeremiah Jr. Burrell William John Benjamin Willis Micajah and 3 daughters. She received this information from a cousin "a long time ago" but doesn't know the cousin's source. I don't think all these children are mentioned in the C. W. Perry book. Can anyone verify these children? And let me know how to find the verification. The other problem I'm having in my mind is another item mentioned in the C.W. Perry book regarding Jeremiah's, b. 1731, parents. Has this been verified in any way? I gather from reading in the past that the "7 brother" theory is just that: theory with no documentation. Am I correct in that assumption? Last but not least--can someone tell me about Casine Plantation? Is this perhaps something I should share with my Perry family as "something" they should visit for it's family historical significance? I guess basically I'm wanting to separate fact from fiction. I would like to have the help of those with Franklin Co. ties who might be familiar with Jeremiah's family. Sincerely, Gwen Perry Brooks Marietta GA

If anyone has a copy of Franklin court minutes of late 1700's and early 1800's I would appreciate very much a look up. Another researcher sent me some info stating that there is a reference of a Jesse Bird being the child of Needham Bird. The only info given was "court minutes- page-285. Can anyone tell me what these court minutes state. Contact me at angela@cocentral.com Thanks
