Please, can you tell me if there are MORTON or LUCAS in the Loose Estate Papers?
Looking for the children of Abner S. Pleasants and his wife Eunice Gupton, m. 12-22-1856 in Franklin County. Indications are that they resided in the Sandy Creek area. My main interest is whether Abner and Eunice had a son by the name of James and if James had a son named William Myron Pleasants, born in 1885. Can anybody give any help?? Shelby, Cedar Rock was and is on Highway 56 outside of Louisburg headed towards Castalia. It is best located by the Cedar Rock Baptist Church that is on Highway 56. Nearby communities are Stallings Crossroads and White Level. If you go to a mapping web site such as www.mapquest.com, you might be able to get an idea of its location. When I checked Mapquest, they did not show Cedar Rock, but they did show Stallings Crossroads. -------- Original Message -------- Subject: {not a subscriber} Franklin County wills Date: Sun, 23 Jul 2000 20:42:12 -0700 From: Rees <reesd@prodigy.net> To: NCFRANKL-L@rootsweb.com Note to Julie, There are several published abstracts of the early Franklin County wills and estates as recorded in the will books of the 1700s and early 1800s--that is, several published volumes. The abstracts are by Dr. Stephen Bradley. I'm looking at the index to his abstracts of Will Book A (1785-1797) and there are several mentions of people named Bridges or Bridgers. The first names are Daniel, Molley, Thomas, John, Joseph, Josiah, Lewis and William. And that's just Will Book A. These were not testators (persons who left wills) but heirs, buyers at estate sales, owners of land adjoining land in some other person's estate, etc.) According to the Mitchell statewide will index, the only Bridger, Bridgers, Bridges, Bridgess, Brigers testators in Franklin County were Benjamin (1822), Delany (1852), William B. (1833), Joseph (1805), and Josiah (1841). There are around 65 in all the North Carolina counties, but those are the only ones in Franklin County through 1900.
