The second one is probably all you will want and it is included in the list of sites included in the first site listed below. Summary of Federal and State Statutes Affecting Archaeological Resources in North Carolina http://www.arch.dcr.state.nc.us/laws.htm The North Carolina Cemetery Survey and Protection Legislation http://www.arch.dcr.state.nc.us/cemetery.htm I have these sites bookmarked and have refered to them in the past. Hope you find what you need or want to know. JChurch5@aol.com wrote: NPumpkin2 asked for info on cemetery laws in North Carolina and I too am interested in the subject. All I know is that it is illegal to damage the graves or deny access to the property to descendants who want to study/maintain it. My big question: who is legally responsible for all the small family cemeteries in our state which are part of a large parcel of land that a developer buys? Typically, the developer buys the large tract, divides it into home sites and builds houses. After the houses are sold, the developer is "gone" but is he still the owner of the cemetery? Would he still be legally responsible if someone got hurt there? (Those old box tombs could definitely do some damage if they fell on a person!) This question is NOT in reference to any particular situation that I know of. I just wonder about it when I see the old graveyards suddenly surrounded by cul-de-sacs. E. Anyway try this: http://daddezio.com/cemetery/Index.html When you visit the site it will prove the need for us to walk the cemeteries, document the markers and submit them for others to use. Nancy

    3. Hill Researchers, Does anyone have info on Hannah Hill, daughter of Green Hill, who married Thomas Stokes? I know about their three sons, but wonder if there was also a daughter named Clary. I am actually descended from Thomas Stokes' sister Susannah who married John Claiborne. I have collected lots of info on Thomas Stokes trying to follow the elusive Claibornes, thus my interest in the Hills. The Stokes and Claibornes lived in Brunswick VA, Franklin NC, and Chatham NC. 3. Vickie, Jordan Hill is mentioned several times in my excerpts of Franklin Co. court minutes. Do a search for "Jordan Hill", in quotations, at my website: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~freshnup/markmurph/ Green Hill is there also, of course. They may be only minor fractals of information, but they might help. -Mark Vickie Lomon wrote: > Hello, I am hopeing someone can help me fill in some blanks, I am trying to > find information on Jordon Hill's wife Mary Green, Jordon Hill was the son > of Green Hill Jr. and his first wife Nancy Thomas, I am also trying to find > out information about Nancy Thomas as well, who her parents were etc. I have > a vast amount of info on the Hill line, but know nothing about the Greens. 2. Mark Murphy
    3. Michael Dunn has done a wonderful job of connecting Marshall and Maury Co.s TN to Franklin Co. NC for several surnames. His Collins and Vinson(Vincent) information do a great job of shoring up my contention that my Murphys came from Franklin Co.NC to Maury/Marshall Co. TN. Some good work here, check it out at: http://www.tamandmichael.com/genealogy.htm Also, sorry I've been a little slow on my web page updates. Got several microfilms I'm going through now containing so far unrelated Murphys (but I'll post them), and I've been busy at work & holidays, etc, excuses, excuses. -- "I'm a student of life, and I hope I don't graduate soon."
