    1. [NCFRANKL] Someone has the worm
    2. Mark Murphy
    3. Someone in one or more of these groups has all the following problems: 1. You use Microsoft Internet Explorer 2. You use Microsoft Outlook for your email program 3. Your computer is infected with a nasty worm/virus called W32.Klez.gen@mm. W32.Klez.gen@mm is a mass-mailing worm that will send itself to all email addresses in your Microsoft Outlook Address Book, and you don't know about it. This person or persons need to go to www.symantec.com and get their computer cleaned. I am being bombarded by emails from address in your Outlook address book, all with enticing genealogical subject lines or messages, but the body contains the worm trying to attack. If you meet the first two conditions above, you should check for the third. Anyone else seeing this problem? I assure you this is not a hoax. We have a firewall/scanning software that catches all these, but I thought I'd make you aware because it is still happening. thanks -- Mark A. Murphy

    1. [NCFRANKL] 2 Adam Jones's,
    2. John Norvill Jones
    3. Hello: I am seeking information on two Adam Jones's, cousins, who were in Franklin County after the Revolution They were originally from upper Bute County near the Virginia border. 1. The name of the first Adam Jones appeared on Capt. Bryant Ferrill's tax list in 1778. He is on several land records as a witness or adjoining landowner in the Cedar/Crooked Creeks area in the early 1780s. Sometime in the mid-1780s he migrated to Georgia. I would like to find the deed where he disposed of his land before going to Georgia. 2. The second Adam Jones married Susannah Jones, the first Adam's sister and his cousin. This Adam served in the 2nd VA Continental Line from 1778 until at least 1781 and probably came to Franklin County to join other family members in the Cedar/Crooked Creeks region after he was discharged. He died sometime between 1781 and 1791 when his orphan children were apprenticed to William Truelove. I would like to find a will or estate record for this Adam Jones. Any help on either of these Adam Jones's will be appreciated. J. Norvill Jones

    1. [NCFRANKL] Bullock or Maynard
    2. I just started helping a lady who is now in a nursing home do her family. She was born in 1916 in Franklin county, and while she has her parents' names, she doesn't remember when they were born or died. Her father John Bullock was originally from Cherokee county, and her mother was Debbie Maynard from Franklin county. If anybody knows these names, please let me know. Anything that can help would be more than I've got right now to work with. Karen

    1. [NCFRANKL] John Jones - white Franklin County father of free black woman
    2. Dear fellow researchers, I am in a quandary. My g-g-grandmother Narcissa Pettiford was born in Franklin County on 20 Sept 1829. Her death certificate indicates "John Jones - white man reported father". Jones is a fairly common name in North Carolina (as well as everywhere else in the universe) and having an ancestor whose first name is 'John' doesn't narrow down my search as much as I'd like. Hopefully, among the Jones family researchers, there is someone who can narrow down the possibilities. Here is a little background. Narcissa's mother Glatha Pettiford was born "free" in Franklin County about 1805. Glatha's mother and her siblings were apprenticed in Cumberland County, NC to Duncan McNeill in 1790. It appears that several of McNeill's charges moved (perhaps with Duncan) to Franklin County about 1800. I'm wondering whether there exists an association between the Franklin County Jones family and Duncan McNeill. John Jones might've fathered several of Glatha's siblings. If any Jones researcher is interested, I would be more than happy to supply a photograph of John's daughter Narcissa. Robert Jackson

    1. Re: [NCFRANKL] Lewelling Jones
    2. I bear an as-yet determined relationship to the Jones family of Franklin County. I hope someone can help me. According to my great-great-grandmother's death certificate, her father was John Jones of Franklin County. My g-g-grandmother Narcissa Pettiford Rattley was born in Franklin County on 20 Sept 1829. Her mother was Glatha Pettiford (c1805-1882). I have two photographs of Narcissa. Glatha Pettiford might've had other children by this particular John Jones. Considering that Glatha had her first child in 1818 (and presuming Jones is the father), Jones was probably born before 1800. Was there a John Jones in Lewelling's family who might've been born prior to 1800 and still living in 1829? Robert Jackson
