    1. [NCEDGECO-L] STRINGER research
    2. Bob and Sally Britnell
    3. Hello; I'm researching my mother's line, STRINGER, originally from Elizabeth City County, VA. John Stringer moved to Edgecombe County in the early 1700's (his son, John Jr., was born there in 1714). John Jr's sons Noah and Josiah, (my gggg grandfather) and other sons, fought in the Revolution. They returned to EdgeCo, and in 1800 joined the migration south to Georgia. For perhaps 100 years, these Stringers lived in Edgecombe County. I believe (but have no proof) that they were farmers, and had a plantation comprised of substantial parcels of land; there are indications that Josiah sold off several pieces of property in preparation for removing to GA. Josiah married (1) Selah Davis, daughter of Emory and Rachel Davis of Isle of Wight County, and (2) Lucretia Stringer, perhaps the widow of a Frances Stringer. http://www.familytreemaker.com/users/b/r/i/Bobby-E-Britnell/index.html Thanks! Bob in Lake Charles, La. Bob and Sally Britnell [email protected]
