I am looking in Edgecombe Co. for Joseph SIMS, Jr. (c.1714-1795) who married Charity Barnes. He came from Granville Co., NC, where his father Joseph, Sr. (d.before1751) married Sarah ? . Joseph, Jr.'s children were Benjamin, Garry, Patty, Sarah, Senath, Shadrack, Simon, William, and Zelia. Son William SIMS (1760-1827) married Edith (Ede) Horn, sister of William Horn. They remained in Edgecombe Co. and had children Jesse, William Thomas, Mary (Polly), Sarah, Leroy, Jacob, Charity, and Patience. Jesse SIMS married Mary Ann Holland Evans Sikes and moved to TN (maybe Lawrence Co.). William Thomas SIMS (b. 1807) married Rebecca (I think) Harriet Gray and moved to Sumter Co., AL. After Harriet's death and several children's to meningitis, W.T. married a Miss Polythress(?) and had more children. Leroy, W.T.'s brother, moved to AL, also, and joined his brother in farming and the newspaper publishing business. They all died in Sumter Co.
